    Permanent subs are employees of HSE Schools and eligible for benefits (including but not limited to paid sick and personal day(s), insurance such as medical, life, disability, vision, dental)

    As an employee, Full Time Subs report to work every day that students are in session; 180 days for the school year.  Full Time Subs may or may not work on e-Learning days.  Full Time Subs will follow policy for holidays, school delays and closures, and make up days as outlined in the handbook.

    How Full Time Subs are Utilized:

    Full Time Subs are assigned to mutually agreed upon school(s)/grade(s) hereby referred to as their “home school(s), and most days will expect to report to the “home” school(s).  Full Time Subs may be assigned to specific teacher absences prior to or the morning of the assignment.  The district and school building coordinators work with the Full Time Sub to facilitate the most beneficial placement of Full Time Subs for the day/district.  The Perm Subs receive a confirmation email each time they are assigned, no later than the morning of the assignment.

    If there are no vacancies at the home school(s), the Full Time Sub can be moved to another school in the same school level as determined by the Full Time Sub, District and School Coordinators.  For example, an elementary only Full Time Sub only covers elementary vacancies in the district.  An INT/JH perm might only cover the schools operating in that time slot.  Some Full Time Subs might be available during any time slot/grade after we first review their home school(s) needs.  Full Time Subs that are based at a very large school might move infrequently while a Full Time Sub tied to smaller school(s) might cover multiple schools in a geographic area.  We work together to creatively accommodate the needs of the district schools with the Full Time Subs.

    Sometimes a Full Time Sub covers an AM opening in one school and then moves to a different school for the PM.  Mileage is paid for those times the Full Time Sub is asked to move around the district and away from their home school(s). Lunch and travel time are ensured when moving from one school to another.
