Greenwich Public Schools seeks a long-term substitute science teacher from approximately May 12, 2025, through the end of the 2024-25 school year; the position carries full salary and benefits for the duration of the assignment.
Greenwich Public Schools' science curriculum is fully aligned with the Next-Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The ideal candidate will understand the growth and development of the middle school child, and be able to plan and deliver lessons accordingly, helping students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of NGSS and have experience working with middle school-aged students.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom
- Demonstrated strong content knowledge
- Maintains accurate and complete records
- Assesses student learning on a continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if needed
- Communicates student progress with parents through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences
- Designs instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Designs and implements assessments that measure progress and uses assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices
- Maintains a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships
- Participates in professional learning
Knowledge/Skills: - Experience working with adolescent children

Qualifications Profile:
- CT State Certification, or certifiability, in: General Science, Grades 4-8 (#234), General Science, Grades 7-12 (#034), or related certificate required.
