Glenview Park District recruits, hires and trains roughly 150 lifeguards for the summer season. Interviews will be offered between February 15-May 15.
 
JOB SUMMARY
Glenview Park District is looking to hire lifeguard staff to join our aquatics team! This role you will be responsible for:
• Maintaining a safe aquatic operation with prevention techniques, which include constant surveillance, enforcing pool rules and responding to emergencies with proper care
• Acting as first responder to all minor and medical emergencies and is expected to provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services (EMS)
• Other duties as assigned by the Pool Manager, Aquatic Supervisor and Aquatic Manager
 
QUALIFICATIONS
• Age Requirement: Must be at least 15 years old by the first day of work. Candidates under the age of 16 years old must provide a worker’s permit.
• No Experience Needed: Glenview Park District provides all training you need – you’ll be fully trained and certified before your first day of work
• Certification Course: Candidates need to complete the StarGuard Elite lifeguard certification course offered by Glenview Park District. This course is offered as online blended learning that includes in-person training that takes place over three days. By the end of the course, candidates will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of all practical skills, pass a written exam and complete swim assessment (Swim 200 yards (8 lengths of the pool) using front crawl and/or breaststroke, treading and retrieve brick from bottom of pool).
   
SCHEDULING & PAY
• The summer season ranges from May through September (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend). Mandatory trainings will begin in mid-late May.
• At Roosevelt and Flick Outdoor Pools, the schedule is flexible, accommodating and varies from week to week. Staff must be available to work at least 15 hours per week including nights and weekends, but can work as much as 40 hours per week.
• Time off requests will be allowed at the beginning of summer for up to 10 days off. Staff will also have the ability to submit time off requests throughout the season.
• The pay rate starts at $17.00/hour. Premium wage of $18.50 during designated hours at Splash Landings (Year-round: Monday-Friday from 5:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Summer: 5:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.)

JOB SUMMARY
Glenview Park District is looking to hire staff to fulfill the responsibilities in the food and beverage operation, as well as slide attendant at Flick Outdoor Aquatic Center and Roosevelt Outdoor Aquatic Center. In this role you will be responsible for:
• Preparing and displaying concession food, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Operate all food preparation equipment safely and efficiently.
• Work at the top of the water slides, directing people when they can go down the slide and ensure all rules and guidelines are maintained by patrons
• Assists with cleaning tasks which include sanitizing and disinfecting concessions equipment, maintaining a clean pool deck, and applying food safety and handling techniques
• Other duties as assigned by the Pool Manager, Aquatic Supervisor and Aquatic Manager
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be at least 16 years old by first day of work
• Ideal applicants must be enthusiastic, friendly and able to provide excellent customer service
• Previous food handling, leadership and cleaning experience preferred, but not required
• No prior experience or training needed. Glenview Park District will train all attendant staff prior to their first day of work.

SCHEDULING & PAY
• This is a seasonal position hiring Roosevelt and Flick Outdoor Pool from mid-May to the beginning of September.
• Schedule will include a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and special events. This position requires at least 15-20 hours per week. Time off requests will be allowed at the beginning of summer for up to 10 days off. Staff will also have the ability to submit time off requests throughout the season.
• The starting pay rate is $15.00/hour.

JOB SUMMARY
Glenview Park Golf Club is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This candidate will have a strong knowledge of golf course maintenance tasks, be dependable, professional, team oriented and have great attention to detail and follow through. The individual will be involved with staff, irrigation and drainage systems and small projects. Under the Golf Course Superintendent’s supervision, the Assistant Superintendent will direct day-to-day work schedules and supervise employees. Individual will have extensive involvement with the planning, scheduling, and implementation of the plant health program and safety program.
 
JOB DUTIES
• Oversee and manage golf course conditions, including performing maintenance, repairs and improvements
• Perform daily evaluation of golf course conditions along with disease/pest scouting
• Prepare daily and weekly work schedules based on daily play and special events
• Supervise and perform chemical and fertilizer applications including training, calibration and record keeping
• Assist in managing the automated irrigation system & pump station, including maintenance, repair of leaks and troubleshooting electrical systems; manage computer weather station software and analyze moisture & evaporation rates
• Control inventory and maintain records for equipment, tools, supplies and materials
• Work with Superintendent and Equipment Technician to manage fleet; develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment and other mechanicals; anticipate and prepare for capital replacements
• Maintain MSDS sheets on chemicals & pesticides; train employees on MSDS sheets
• Anticipate and minimize impact of external and/or environmental hazards (geese, coyotes, wildlife, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures as well as adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
• Perform Total Property Management tasks including, but not limited to, snow and ice remove and general facility appearance
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Golf Course or Turf Management, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Agronomy, or related field preferred, but will consider providing training and education opportunities to a strong candidate. Demonstrated experience working with a Golf Course Superintendent. Supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver’s license is required. Able to attain an IL pesticide applicator license within six months of hire. 
 
SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position and is subject to change with seasonal requirements. The target hiring range for this position is $63,000 to $70,000 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Responsible for performing a wide variety of general labor tasks, including mowing, raking, pruning, turf repairs, irrigation repairs, drainage construction, landscaping, and seasonal duties.

• Performs general mowing using walk mowing units on all playing surfaces
• Performs bunker maintenance – raking, weeding, and edging
• Use of string trimmers, back pack blowers, and push mowers
• Assists with golf course construction projects
• Cleans the interiors of buildings thoroughly (sweeping floors, cleaning bathrooms, etc.)
• Performs all seasonal work assignments (e.g. snow removal, salting, etc.)
• Completes landscaping activities (urban forestry, planting, mowing, raking, chipping, etc.)
• Performs set-up and tear-down for programs and special events
• Maintains all tools, equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS
 
The best applicants will be reliable and at least 16 years of age or older and currently enrolled in either high school or college preferred. No prior experience in golf course maintenance is needed, but must have a desire to learn more about golf course maintenance. Work schedules are flexible and ability to perform medium duty work required. Valid IL Driver’s License required. Illinois turf pesticide applicators license a plus.
 
SCHEDULING & PAY
 
This is a part-time, seasonal hourly (non-exempt) position working Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Saturday or Sunday 5:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. and is subject to change with seasonal requirements. JOB SUMMARY
Join the outstanding staff of the Glenview Park Golf Club!
We are looking for dynamic and experienced individuals to join our staff. Our Golf Shop Associates are responsible for providing a world-class guest experience.  Duties include opening and closing the facility, booking tee times, welcoming and checking in golfers, accurately ringing transactions at the point of sale, assisting guests with product selection, monitoring course activity, communication with other staff members, maintaining a clean and organized golf shop and assisting with event preparation, set-up and take-down.
  
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior retail experience required and knowledge of golf preferred. The best applicants will have excellent customer service skills, an outgoing personality and self-motivation. The ability to multi-task, solve problems and work without supervision is a must. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Point of Sale systems are required.
 
SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a part-time, seasonal position, which will start on/around February 1 and generally end around November 30, possibly sooner or later based on the weather and the needs of the business. Commitment to the full season is expected. The golf course is open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to dusk. Associates can expect to work up to 30 hours per week, including nights, weekends and holidays. The starting pay rate is $15/hour, commensurate with experience. All associates receive generous golf benefits.

JOB SUMMARY

JOB SUMMARY

• Perform all seasonal work assignments (e.g. snow removal, salting, ice rink maintenance, etc.)
• Take care of the skate rental (e.g. exchanging the skates from the racks for shoes from the customer and accepting cash and credit transactions.)
• Provide attention to the general public including handling questions and complaints responding to accident/incidents, etc.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be reliable with previous experience managing part-time staff or facilities, knowledgeable of ice arena operations and driving an ice resurfacer preferred. Must be at least 18 years old.
 
SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a year-round position working 10-20 hours/week. The typical schedule will include nights and weekends. The hiring rate with no previous ice resurfacer experience, $19/hour, with ice resurfacer experience, $21/hour.

JOB SUMMARY

QUALIFICATIONS

The Synchronized Skating Coach is responsible for on- and off-ice coaching of Glenview Blades Synchronized Skating Teams. Currently, we field four teams with almost 50 skaters in a growing organization. The coach communicates team aspects with the Recreation Program Manager. They will help lead the synchronized skating program in a safe and professional manner, and within all rules and regulations of Glenview Park District, the Glenview Blades, U.S. Figure Skating and other appropriate governing bodies.
 
JOB SUMMARY
This position participates in the administration and organization of the Synchronized Skating program, to include:
• Attract and recruit team skaters
• Attend all assigned practices (both on- and off-ice), competitions (local and any travel if applicable), exhibitions, team building events, tryouts, clinics, meetings and other scheduled performances
• Manage team communication related to practice scheduling, tryouts and skater placement (swing skater/alternates, if applicable), music selection, choreography, video breakdown and review, apparel ordering, costume design, hair and makeup and competition itineraries
• Oversee TeamSnap account and schedule for team-related communication with parents or skaters
• Help lead team orientations, dress fittings, parent meetings and form completion dates
• Lead beginning, mid- and end of season 1:1 skater meetings with parents and skater
• Work with parent advisory board volunteers and synchronized skating coordinators to help coordinate competition meals and team parent responsibilities during competitions
• Coordinate team travel with synchronized skating coordinators
• Troubleshoot parent/skater/coaching concerns (in-person, phone, email, etc.)
• Assist parent advisory board with planning team events throughout the season and end of season party
• Assist with schedules – communicates and coaches summer synchronized skating program
• Coach a minimum of two Learn-to-Skate classes for two sessions (for a total of four classes) during the calendar year
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have 3-5 years of experience in continuing education in synchronized skating coaching, including synchronized skating formats for U.S. Figure Skating and/or Learn to Skate USA. Active membership in a professional association is desirable (PSA, U.S. Figure Skating), maintaining continuing education and certifications in synchronized skating. Must have a valid driver’s license.
 
SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a part-time, year-round position, beginning with tryouts and recruitment (Spring 2025), summer skating and in-season training. Approximately 1-3 on- and off-ice practices per week, with 1-4 hours of coach administrative planning time per week (varies throughout the season). Season schedule, including competitions, exhibitions and season kick-off meeting, will be provided prior to the start of the season, subject to changes at the discretion of the Skating Director. The pay rate for this position is $27-$32/hour for on-ice coaching, depending on qualifications and $16-$18/hour for off-ice administrative planning time. Competition and competition-related travel is compensated based on a stipend as indicated in the season’s coach commitment agreement.
 
The possibility of working additional hours in other capacities at Glenview Community Ice Center including Learn to Skate Instructor, Facility Operations, Customer Service or other positions are available.

The Figure Skating Instructor is responsible for providing on and off-ice instruction in the progressive-level GPD Skating Academy program to youth and/or adults. JOB SUMMARY
Participates in the administration and instruction of GPD Skating Academy, to include:

• Handles parent/skater/instructor concerns during off-ice time

Instructor must be able to attend classes, which take place on Tuesday-Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Must be able to attend seasonal trainings or staff meetings as required. Pay is commensurate based on prior teaching experience and skating experience and varies by class level, ranging between $22-$28/hour. Plus, a complimentary Park Center Health and Fitness Membership!
 
The possibility of working additional hours in other capacities at Glenview Community Ice Center including skate rental, skate guard, ice camps, facility operations, customer service, or other positions are available.

JOB SUMMARY
In this fun and rewarding position, you will be responsible for:
• Overseeing all operations of your camp site
• Coordinating with the Recreation Supervisor to create a schedule of events for the summer
• Actively supervising camp counselors to ensure staff are following proper procedures and adhering to safe practices
• Planning a full summer of daily activities and games
• Creating staff schedule
• Maintaining orderly records and filing appropriate documents with the Recreation Supervisor in a timely manner, including, but not limited to, attendance records, sign in/out records, lesson plans, behavior/incident reports, accident reports and receipts
• Coordinating staff training and regular meetings with camp staff to address program issues
• Developing and implementing pool rotation to ensure camp participants are being properly supervised in the water (pool attendance dependent on camp)

• Engaging in regular communication with parents, campers and staff
• Ensuring safety for all participants and administering basic first aid, as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

• Flexibility of work schedules which may include arriving early and staying late
• Excellent skills in working with children

SCHEDULING & PAY

• Providing feedback and communicating issues of importance

QUALIFICATIONS
Training provided! Qualified applicants must be at least 16 years old with a strong interest in sports. The best applicants will be mature and confident (able to speak with authority to kids and adults), possess a high level of commitment and responsibility and demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
 
HOURS
The season begins in January and runs through March. Weekends are required. Schedule will include Saturdays and Sundays, but may require other days/hours to meet the needs of the district.

The Grove was the home of horticulturist and educator, Dr. John Kennicott and his son, Robert Kennicott, Illinois’s first naturalist. The Grove was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 and a partner with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Chicago Wilderness. The Grove offers educational programs, special events and is open for regular visitation by the general public. 
 
JOB DUTIES
• Complete landscaping activities (planting, mowing, raking, mulching, etc.)
• Assist with landscape design planning
• Assist with planting of trees and plugs
• Regularly remove weeds from garden beds and pathways
• Identify and address potential pest and/or disease issues on plants
• Assist in irrigation and watering as needed
• Assist in plant selection and product sourcing while keeping up with annual budget
• Conduct basic maintenance on small engine equipment and hand tools
• Maintain trail safety and cleanliness as needed
• Perform all seasonal work assignments (snow removal, salting, etc.)
• Assist with special events and program setups during winter months
 
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be 18 years or older, with high school diploma or equivalent
• At least 3 years of relevant experience is desirable
• Good physical condition, sufficient strength, and mobility required
• Master Gardener or Horticulture certification preferred
• Basic knowledge of plant identification, local plant varieties, growth habits, and care requirements
• Some working knowledge of local ecosystems, native and invasive plant species and restoration techniques
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Familiarity with common gardening tools and techniques
• Ability to work efficiently either independently or as a team member
• Mechanical aptitude required, including the use of tools, equipment, and machinery
• Ability to read and follow manuals and operating instructions
• Ability to work a varied schedule including some weekends as required
• Ability to execute the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
 
SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a part time, year-round position working a varied schedule. Schedule will include weekdays, evenings and some weekends as required. The Grove was the home of visionary horticulturist and educator, Dr. John Kennicott, who brought his family from New Orleans to settle on this land in 1836. It was here that Dr. John’s son, Robert Kennicott, developed his love of nature that led to such accomplishments as exhibiting his plant and animal specimen collections at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., founding the Chicago Academy of Sciences, and exploring Russian America that led to the purchase of Alaska. Because of its rich history, The Grove was designated a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1976. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The Grove is a partner with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Chicago Wilderness.
 
Kent Fuller Air Station Prairie / Tyner Center is comprised of a 32 acre remnant tallgrass prairie and wetlands, nature trails, exhibits, a prairie “teaching garden” and a “green” building and is committed to enjoying and preserving the prairie.
  
The Grove and Kent Fuller Air Station Prairie / Tyner Center rely on the work of volunteers to ensure each visitor has a wonderful experience.  You can share your love of history and nature in a rewarding environment.  Children under the age of 15 are eligible to volunteer but are required to be accompanied by an adult for all training and service.

Purpose of the Position:
To support the mission of the Grove
 
DOCENT, Program Interpreter School Groups and/or Scout Groups

     Minimum commitment: 2 Hours per month

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for providing historical and/or environmental programming and interpretation to school groups, tour groups, events, site programming and general visitors.
• Conduct tours of the facilities and trails
• Demonstrate and explain historical period activities
• Provide general information to public about facilities and exhibits
 
• Handle and present exhibit animals including snakes and turtles for specific programs
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS                                                 
• Age 16 and older. Children age 8 -15  are eligible to volunteer and are required to be accompanied by an adult for all training and service
• Education: Preference given to individuals with education or background in history, science or environmental education
 
• Experience: At least one year relevant work experience and previous experience working with school age children desired
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Communicate effectively in speaking, reading and writing in English
• Strong public speaking and/or presentation skills.
• Willingness to wear period appropriate clothing for historical programs.
• Willingness to learn historical material and period activities.
• Willingness to learn local natural history and wildlife information.
• For specific programs: willingness to handle and present exhibit animals including snakes and turtles
 
COMMITMENT EXPECTED

JOB SUMMARY
This nine (9) week paid position will introduce the employee to small scale production agriculture through hands-on experiences in the kitchen and vegetable fields at Wagner Farm.  

JOB DUTIES TO INCLUDE
• Assist the Farm to Table Foods Coordinator with food harvesting, food preparation, product development, inventory management, ordering, and food packaging and labeling
• Work with horticulture staff to plant, tend to and harvest in the production fields
• Participate in the processing of vegetables and eggs for retail/wholesale opportunities
• Prepare and sell products on Saturday mornings during the Glenview Farmers Market at Wagner Farm
• Assist in CSA program
• Assist the Volunteer Coordinator in training staff and volunteers who assist in the production fields
• Support Wagner Farm social media as requested by the Wagner Farm Media Coordinator
• Participate in set up, cooking, and service for Wagner Farm to Table Dinners
• Maintain food sanitation and safety standards
• Clean kitchen and kitchen equipment during and after use
 
QUALIFICATIONS
The best applicants will be at least 16 years of age or older and currently enrolled in either high school or college preferred. No prior experience in agricultural work needed but a desire to learn more about where our food comes from and the work required to raise it a must. The work schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday. Ability to perform medium duty work required.
 
HOURS & PAY
This is a nine (9) week job opportunity that looks to have the successful candidate work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. The pay rate is $15.00/hour. Personal protective equipment and limited uniform supplied.

Historic Wagner Farm is seeking a motivated, customer-focused individual to serve as our new Customer Service and Engagement Specialist. This position oversees front desk operations, ice cream parlor and rental staff and participates in programming and historical interpretation. This position serves as farm Social Media Coordinator and Glenview Farmers’ Market Manager. It also serves as the Manager on Duty on weekends, which includes assigning work to staff, handling employee and customer complaints and providing input on personnel decisions. This position has direct supervisory responsibility for part-time staff and works closely with the Assistant Farm Manager to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The target hiring range is $27.40/hour-$29.33/hour ($57,000-$61,000 annually), depending on qualifications.
 
ABOUT HISTORIC WAGNER FARM
Historic Wagner Farm is an award-winning, living-history museum depicting American farming in the 1920s and offers educational programs, special events and is open for regular visitation by the general public.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Museum Studies, Interpretation, Recreation or a related field. The district will consider relevant experience in lieu of formal education. At least three (3) years of related experience and prior supervisory experience required. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
 
SCHEDULING & PAY 
This is a year-round full-time, hourly position. The typical schedule includes: Saturday-Wednesday (June 1-mid-October) and Tuesday-Saturday in the off-season.
