JOB SUMMARY: The Glenview Community Ice center is looking to hire part-time operations staff. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Provide customers with a friendly, clean and safe environment in which to participate in programs, public session, events, and rentals
Operate skate rental, basic point-of-sale desk operations, and skate guard
Distribute rental skates for use during classes and public sessions
Process payments for a variety of services and maintain a balanced register
Set up, operations and take down of bumper cars
Skate guarding, ensuring a safe and friendly environment
Assist with birthday parties and room rentals
Greet customers coming in/exiting the facility and give guidance to facility layout/schedule
Communicate and support rentals as guests arrive, unlock their reserved room, and aide parties as needed during their reservation
Monitor and enforce safety guidelines with patrons around the facility
Complete light maintenance duties when the skate rental desk is not busy

QUALIFICATIONS: The best applicants will be reliable with previous experience in customer service, ice operations or programming, or have knowledge of ice programming or operations. Must be at least 16 years old.

SCHEDULING AND PAY: This is a year-round position working 10-20 hours per week. This position requires working at least 1 weekend day, as well as weeknight evenings between 4pm and 9pm. Target hiring pay is $15/hour depending on qualifications.

JOB SUMMARY: The Glenview Community Ice Center is looking to hire part-time building supervisors. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Manage all part-time staff on site, including skate rental employees, skate guards and maintenance positions. Reports performance to full-time supervisor.
Regular ice maintenance including cutting the ice, shoveling the dump-tank snow into the pit, changing the propane tanks, and other general Zamboni maintenance
Clean the interior of the building thoroughly (moping the floor/stands, washing windows, wiping walls, cleaning bathrooms, sinks, etc.)
Perform set-up and tear-down of tables and chairs for programs and special events
Perform all seasonal work assignments (e.g. snow removal, salting, ice rink maintenance, etc.)
Take care of the skate rental (e.g. exchanging the skates from the racks for shoes from the customer and accepting cash and credit transactions.)
Provide attention to the general public including handling questions and complaints responding to accident/incidents, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be reliable with previous experience managing part-time staff or facilities, knowledgeable of ice arena operations and driving an ice resurfacer preferred. Must be at least 18 years old.

SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a year-round position working 10-20 hours/week. The typical schedule will include nights and weekends. The hiring rate with no previous ice resurfacer experience, $19/hour, with ice resurfacer experience, $21/hour.

JOB SUMMARY
In this fun and rewarding position, you will be responsible for:

Overseeing all operations of your camp site
Coordinating with the Figure Skating Director to create a schedule of events for the summer
Actively supervising camp counselors to ensure staff are following proper procedures and adhering to safe practices
Planning a full summer of daily activities and games
Create staff schedule
Maintain orderly records and file appropriate documents with the Figure Skating Director in a timely manner, including but not limited to: attendance records, sign in/out records, lesson plans, behavior/incident reports, accident reports, and receipts
Coordinate staff training and regular meetings with camp staff to address program issues
Develop and implement pool rotation to ensure camp participants are being properly supervised in the water (pool attendance dependent on camp)
Ensure rooms and equipment are maintained properly
Engaging in regular communication with parents, campers, and staff
Ensuring safety for all participants and administering basic first aid, as necessary
Assisting with set-up and break-down of campsite
Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by following program budget
Meet regularly with the Recreation Supervisor to communicate issues and request related to the program
Provide excellent internal and external customer service

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have:

Experience working in a summer camp – or equivalent
Have skating experience and be able to assist skaters on the ice
Knowledge and skills with computers and software (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Knowledge of camps and camp activities
Requires flexibility of work schedules which may include arriving early, staying late
Excellent skills in working with children
Ability to effectively communicate with parents, campers, and staff
Highly organized

SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a part-time position in the summer. Qualified persons MUST be available for:

Training the week of June 3
All weeks of camp beginning June 9 (end date will vary depending on the camp)
Work weekdays, Monday through Friday 8:15 a.m.-6:15 p.m. (hours will vary depending on the camp)
Camp Staff will be required to work on the 4^th of July, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (hours will vary depending on staffing assignment)

Pay starts at $19.00/hour and is dependent on qualifications.

Glenview Community Ice Center is currently looking to hire part-time Customer Service/Front Desk Staff that has availability to work days, nights, weekends and special events.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing excellent front-line customer service to visitors and patrons. Examples of duties include:

Greet visitors and answer questions about organization, facilities and programs
Answer phone calls and handle appropriately
Open and close front desk and offices
Register customers for programs, ice rentals, events and memberships; accept payments
Balance daily cash drawer and prepare bank deposits
Maintain clean front desk and up-to-date bulletin boards and information kiosks
Document incidents and accidents
Sort and distribute internal and external mail
Assist with other administrative duties and special projects/events as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent desired. Some college is strongly preferred, but will consider related experience or training in lieu of formal education. At least two (2) years of relevant experience required. Excellent interpersonal and phone skills with a wide range of patrons is required. Strong language skills, ability to type at least 35 wpm and proofread/edit documents. Ability to multitask and handle various assignments. Knowledge of computers and software (Outlook, Word, Excel and Publisher). Ability to travel to facilities using personal automobile and work a varied schedule including some nights and weekends.

SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a year-round part-time position; no seasonal applicants, please. Starting pay is $15.00/hour.
Position may work approximately 6-15 hours/week. We are currently looking for staff that can during the day, nights, weekends and special events.

JOB SUMMARY
In this role, you will be responsible for providing a high-quality front-line customer experience to patrons and assisting with facility special events, rentals and parties as well as ongoing public programming.

OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:

Building understanding of facility operations and scheduling to assist with facility rental requests and rental payment tracking
Responsible for updating facility schedules including the preparation of the monthly customer-facing facility schedule, the monthly freestyle calendar and special event calendars
Creating marketing materials such as fliers and social media posts
Providing on-site assistance for special events, birthday parties, bumper cars and other programs as assigned
Supporting the setup and breakdown of special events
Assisting with birthday party inquiries, such as schedule availability and emailing welcome letters and surveys
Assisting with inventory of general office supplies and lost and found inventories and cleaning
Greeting walk-in visitors and directing patrons to rinks, locker rooms and events
Developing relationships with customers and patrons, providing high-quality customer experience and proactively exceeding their expectations
Answering phone calls and questions about the facility, website, registration, programs, events and rentals
Providing program information and registering participants for programs
Checking in and/or processing POS transactions for skaters on freestyle sessions, public skate, open hockey, rentals and walk-in bumper cars and registration payments
Processing freestyle transfers, submitting cancellation requests and troubleshooting concerns that may arise
Setting up supplies and equipment for public skate, freestyle, parties and special events
Responding to customer inquiries via email, phone and in-person
Balancing daily work deposits (cash, checks, credit cards) and printing daily cash journal at end of shift
Responding to emergencies following EAP and completing incident/accident reports as required

QUALIFICATIONS
The best candidates will have:

At least 2 years of experience in customer service, events or recreation
An outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic personality and team player
The ability to multi-task, prioritizing customer needs and job duties
Display critical thinking and a collaborative problem-solving mindset
Outstanding communication skills both in person and over the phone
Computer skills essential

SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a year-round, part-time position, working 20-25 hours per week, including some nights, weekends and holidays as required. The schedule will include two to three weekday shifts (Monday-Friday) and one Saturday shift per week. The target hiring range is $16-19/ hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Synchronized Skating Coach (Part-Time, Year-Round)
Glenview Community Ice Center

The Synchronized Skating Coach is responsible for on- and off-ice coaching of Glenview Blades Synchronized Skating Teams. Currently, we field four teams with almost 50 skaters in a growing organization. The coach communicates team aspects with the Recreation Program Manager. They will help lead the synchronized skating program in a safe and professional manner, and within all rules and regulations of Glenview Park District, the Glenview Blades, U.S. Figure Skating and other appropriate governing bodies.

JOB SUMMARY
This position participates in the administration and organization of the Synchronized Skating program, to include:

Attract and recruit team skaters
Attend all assigned practices (both on- and off-ice), competitions (local and any travel if applicable), exhibitions, team building events, tryouts, clinics, meetings and other scheduled performances
Manage team communication related to practice scheduling, tryouts and skater placement (swing skater/alternates, if applicable), music selection, choreography, video breakdown and review, apparel ordering, costume design, hair and makeup and competition itineraries
Oversee TeamSnap account and schedule for team-related communication with parents or skaters
Help lead team orientations, dress fittings, parent meetings and form completion dates
Lead beginning, mid- and end of season 1:1 skater meetings with parents and skater
Work with parent advisory board volunteers and synchronized skating coordinators to help coordinate competition meals and team parent responsibilities during competitions
Coordinate team travel with synchronized skating coordinators
Troubleshoot parent/skater/coaching concerns (in-person, phone, email, etc.)
Assist parent advisory board with planning team events throughout the season and end of season party
Assist with schedules – communicates and coaches summer synchronized skating program
Coach a minimum of two Learn-to-Skate classes for two sessions (for a total of four classes) during the calendar year

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have 3-5 years of experience in continuing education in synchronized skating coaching, including synchronized skating formats for U.S. Figure Skating and/or Learn to Skate USA. Active membership in a professional association is desirable (PSA, U.S. Figure Skating), maintaining continuing education and certifications in synchronized skating. Must have a valid driver’s license.

SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a part-time, year-round position, beginning with tryouts and recruitment (Spring 2025), summer skating and in-season training. Approximately 1-3 on- and off-ice practices per week, with 1-4 hours of coach administrative planning time per week (varies throughout the season). Season schedule, including competitions, exhibitions and season kick-off meeting, will be provided prior to the start of the season, subject to changes at the discretion of the Skating Director. The pay rate for this position is $27-$32/hour for on-ice coaching, depending on qualifications and $16-$18/hour for off-ice administrative planning time. Competition and competition-related travel is compensated based on a stipend as indicated in the season’s coach commitment agreement.

The possibility of working additional hours in other capacities at Glenview Community Ice Center including Learn to Skate Instructor, Facility Operations, Customer Service or other positions are available.

The Figure Skating Instructor is responsible for providing on and off-ice instruction in the progressive-level GPD Skating Academy program to youth and/or adults. Instructor works under the supervision and is in communication about all aspects of the program with the Figure Skating Director. They provide safe and professional coaching within all rules and regulations of Glenview Park District, Learn to Skate USA, and other governing bodies.

JOB SUMMARY
Participates in the administration and instruction of GPD Skating Academy, to include:

Instruct with on- and off-ice classes
Teach children and/or adults the fundamentals of ice skating
Assist in recruitment of skaters
Handles parent/skater/instructor concerns during off-ice time
Assist with seasonal exhibitions
Mentor skaters and instructors
Attends and assists at rink competitions and/or with ice show

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years of age, with continuing education in figure skating or 3-5 years skating experience. Active membership in a professional association is desirable (PSA, LTS USA, U.S. Figure Skating) while maintaining education and certifications in figure skating.

SCHEDULING & PAY
Instructor must be able to attend classes, which take place on Tuesday-Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Must be able to attend seasonal trainings or staff meetings as required. Pay is commensurate based on prior teaching experience and skating experience and varies by class level, ranging between $22-$28/hour. Plus, a complimentary Park Center Health and Fitness Membership!

The possibility of working additional hours in other capacities at Glenview Community Ice Center including skate rental, skate guard, ice camps, facility operations, customer service, or other positions are available.
