Custodian
Reports to –Building Principal
Provides efficient, quality cleaning (housekeeping) tasks for office and office buildings following
established practices, standards and methods under the direction of the supervisor.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cleans offices, classrooms, restrooms, corridors, windows, and walls
2. Cleans up after activities for building events
3. Operates electric sweepers, floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, etc.
4. Follows usage instructions/dilution ratios of cleaning chemicals and other custodial products.
5. Maintains a safe working area, follows safety guidelines of operating manuals, abides by current
OSHA guidelines, and uses appropriate universal protective equipment.
6. Communicates with staff regarding needs of classrooms, buildings and grounds
7. Cooperates and works closely with lead custodian
8. Performs all work in accordance with established standards, methods and practices.
9. Performs other duties as assigned
10. Demonstrates professionalism when working with staff and when interacting with students and
community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is performed while standing or walking. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using
speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping, pushing and pulling
of arm controls and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing,
reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights. The work requires activities involving
being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and
exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
2. Ability to perform basic commercial cleaning (housekeeping) tasks in schools and office buildings
3. Ability to use/operate commercial cleaning equipment.
