Job Title: Specialist Transportation
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
Dept/School: Transportation West
Work Year: 226 days
Base Salary: $36,400 Actual salary will be calculated based on experience.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist the Transportation Department and campuses with the management of student transportation and the training and support of bus drivers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Some college preferred
Valid CDL with passenger, air brake and safety endorsements
Complete 20 hour TEA Safety certification class or willingness to obtain
Complete First Aid and CPR certification class or willingness to obtain
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
Ability to pass annual and random Department of Transportation (DOT) physical/drug testing
Ability to drive/monitor a school bus
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, internet maps and basic internet navigation
Excellent interpersonal skills in order to ensure positive relations with all patrons
Detail oriented
Flexible and open to changes
Good organizational and communication skills
Capable of responding calmly in emergency situations
Ability to work in multi-task environment
Ability to work together as a team and with a spirit of cooperation
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience driving a school bus or equivalent
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintain bus safety/incident reports, dual custody, grandparent, and state certified in-home daycare exceptions (and all other forms as needed).
Coordinate with local gated community homeowner associations (HOAs) to maintain bus access.
Provide guidance and support to drivers assigned to your area.
Communicate routes and schedules to drivers.
Assist drivers in student management.
Assist in maintaining route schedules.
Recommend route and driver changes as necessary.
Access bus video surveillance system for safety and security purposes.
Assist in coordinating after school and summer school programs.
Assist with student count and route mileage for local and state reports.
Work with routing software, as needed.
Perform as a relief bus driver and/or monitor as needed.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
