    Part Time/Hourly Pay: $12.50
               

     Bilingual Testers work short-term assignments of less than 3 months for up to 40 hours per week.
     Employment as a Bilingual Tester does not guarantee a minimum number of work hours.
     
     
    Position Purpose
     
    Registers and administers state required assessments to students who speak a language other than English for initial identification and reclassification of the Bilingual/ESL program.
     
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
     
    Screening and Assessment
    • Contacts parents daily over student’s information (enrollment documents, educational history, etc.).
    • Inputs student information and uploads documents into the student system.
    • Assesses students in English and Spanish (if applicable) and inputs scores into the student system.
    • Provides information to parents and students regarding the Bilingual/ESL programs.
    • Participates in districtwide events for the purpose to promote and support enrollment.
    • Maintains departmental records according to established procedures.
    • Assists with planning, preparation, and setup of departmental activities.

    • Performs all job-related duties as assigned and in accordance with Board rules, policies and regulations.  All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required.
     
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of compliance and the evaluation of emergent bilingual students.
    • Knowledge of student information systems.
    • Knowledge of office procedures and operation of business office equipment.
    • Skill at the beginners’ level, working with Microsoft Office 365, especially Outlook and Excel.
    • Skill in data entry with minimal errors.
    • Ability to exercise discretion regarding matter of sensitive or confidential nature.
    • Ability to collect and evaluate data and prepare recommendations based upon such information.
    • Ability to provide information to parents and students related to Bilingual/ESL programs and activities.
    • Ability to use software to create spreadsheets, email, and do word processing.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written forms.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
    • Ability to presents a pleasant, helpful attitude toward students, parents, and visitors.
     
    Travel Requirements
    • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
     
    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
    • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals
    • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
    • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse
    • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
    • Environment: Work is performed in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
    • Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions
     
    Minimum Required Qualifications
    • Education: Accredited High School diploma or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency required.
    • Certification/License: None
    • Experience: 1-year office or clerical experience such as receptionist, typing, filing, scheduling, and processing mail required.
    • Language Requirement: Bilingual (English/Spanish) working proficiency preferred in some settings.
