POSITION: English Learners Summer School Coordinator
LOCATION: Westview Elementary
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or Curriculum and Instruction, or related field, ESL endorsed.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably working with English learners in a diverse educational setting.
Strong knowledge of language acquisition theories and evidence-based instructional practices for English learners.
Experience in curriculum development and program coordination, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Understanding culturally responsive teaching practices and a commitment to equity and inclusion in education
RESPONSIBILITIES: The EL coordinator will play a significant role in organizing and executing our summer program for English Learners.
The position demands a deep understanding of language acquisition methodologies, curriculum development, and effective coaching techniques to support students and educators.
The coordinator will provide leadership and work closely with the academic team to ensure a high-quality educational experience that fosters language development and academic growth.
Program coordination: Coordinate with teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure smooth curriculum and program objectives implementation. Oversee all aspects of the EL summer program, including scheduling, parent communication, and other logistical arrangements.
Curriculum development: Collaborate with the academic team to design an engaging and effective curriculum that aligns with the needs of English learners. Integrate language acquisition strategies, cultural competence, and content-based instruction into the curriculum to support students' language development across all proficiency levels. The EL coordinator will be responsible for creating and managing any computer program accounts needed for the program.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Develop and implement assessment tools to measure students' language proficiency and academic growth. Regularly monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to address individual learning needs.
Parent and Community Engagement: Facilitate communication with parents/guardians regarding program goals, student progress, and resources to support English language development at home.
SCHEDULE: July 7 - July 31, Monday - Thursday;
8 hours per day; 7:30 am to 3:30 pm,
Time will also be given for Program Set-Up and Program Wrap-Up, and will be coordinated with the Director of Academic Services upon hire.
SALARY: $50/hour
REPORTS TO: Director of Academic Services or Designee
Positions will be filled based upon student enrollment and related experience.
