Qualifications: Employed as a certified teacher; hold a permanent or 5 year professional license; minimum 5 years of teaching experience; classroom experience within the last five years; meet criteria in rubric.
Mentor Responsibilities: Complete the mentor self-assessment tool and mentor professional learning goal-setting tool (Year 1 Only); attend and successfully complete the state-sponsored mentor training and or meetings (see attached schedule); meet with Resident Educator at least 1 hour/week; observe Resident Educator minimum of 3 times in year; collaborate with Resident Educator to align goals for goal setting; use state formative assessment tools, protocols, and procedure; document resident Educator’s ongoing progress; complete mid-year goal review; complete an annual formative progress review with Resident Educator; participate in end-of-year meeting with Mentee and Superintendent.
First Resident Educator Meeting will be in September. Date will be provided as we finalize our RE needs for the year.
All new Mentors must be certified through attendance at the 2-day training called the Resident Educator Academy. Trainings are posted in STARS; that is also where Mentors register to attend the trainings.
