Thank you for your interest in the ESC-COG substitute consortium. You may begin completing the application. After completing the application you will recieve an email from the ESC with information as to how you may access your required training through Public School Works.
After receiving the email you may access Public School Works by going to www.escco.org and click on Staff. Scroll down and then click on Public School Works. Your user name is your first name and last name as one word and is all lower case (joesmith). Your password is your 10 digit telephone number (no spaces).
Note:
These are the required online courses that need to be completed in Public School Works.

To complete the hiring process bring your official identification
documents to our office for visual verification. You can also arrange an appointment to obtain your background checks at either of our office locations. Please go to our web site to schedule an appointment by going to the substitue page and click on "Background checks and finger printing".
Once you have submitted your employment application, you will receive an
eForm
packet to complete, which will be attached to your application. You will be attaching the following documents to the eForm packet.
ODE teaching or substitute license or Educational Aide Permit.
BCI and FBI background checks results from the Ohio Attorney General's Office (completed within12 months of your employment application). You will need an appointment to schedule your background check. For additional information please go to

attach a copy of your driver's license or state ID document
complete your tax witholding forms (local,state, & federal)
attach a copy of social security information
attach direct deposit information
Form I-9 Department of Homeland Security employment verification . A lilnk to set up an appointment to review your original documents is on our web site.
You may want to gather these required documents before you begin work on your eForm packet
.
Once your employment application and eForm packet have been received, your materials will be reviewed and your profile will be activated in Absence Management. You will receive an email with your log on information for Absence Management once all requirements have been met.

All assignments that work directly with students must obtain an Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education. Please note our substitute onboarding is now provided online through Public School Works.
Note: Recently enacted legislation permits those who do not hold a post secondary degree to obtain a substitute license through June 30, 2024.

Your Public School Works "log in" information will be emailed to you within a few days of registering in eventbrite.

The annual reactivation period for the 2019-2020 school year for all active substitutes begins April 1, 2019.
You are an Active substitute employee if you used Absence Management through our consoritum to accept at least 10 assignments during the 2018-2019 school year.
If you had a break in service as a substiute employee (
you have not worked nor been paid by the ESC in the past 12 months
) , you will need to re apply as a new subsitute employee and will need to update your eForm (BCI/FBI background checks, direct deposit forms state,federal and local tax withholding forms).
Just a reminder that in Applicant Tracking your
user name
is your email address and your
password
is one that you established. If you need help , just click
"forgot my password"
Steps to complete 2019-2020 annual renewal/reasonable assurance:
Attach your current ODE 2019-20 license ( teaching, substitute license or educational aide permit,or CT 37 license for Career Centers) An electronic copy of your license is available on line from ODE through your OH/ID
account ( formerly SAFE account) .
Please remember to update your FBI background check every five years with our office and Ohio Department of Education.
Complete the annual BBP training course and the ESC-COG Subsitute Employee handbook in Public School Works (after April 1, 2019) .
Verify your "In Case of Emergency" contact information
Select your school district preferences. The top section is for substitute teaching and the bottom section is for non-teaching assignments.
Once you have completed the renewal, hit the submit button, which will forward your file to our attention. You will receive an email acknowledgement email as a receipt.
Our ESC-COG HR office staff will review your renewal and you will be notified by email once your file has been reactivated for 2019-2020 .
All renewals completed before July 1st will remain active.
