  •   E.O. Smith High School is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and thoughtful individual who can contribute to our school’s diversity through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service to the institution.

    The E.O. Smith Science department is committed to providing students with practical knowledge of how things work, the environmental complexities of the world around them, and the way the biological world, including their own bodies, functions.
     
     SCIENCE DEPARTMENT PROGRAM GOALS and COURSE LISTING 
     
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Possess or be eligible for a Connecticut Educator Certificate: Chemistry 7-12 (031), additional certifications preferred- General Science (034) or Biology (030).
    • Possess qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with all stakeholders.
    • Demonstrate understanding of or have experience in providing culturally relevant instruction.
     
    TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Offer challenging and relevant lessons providing a high quality experiences for student with different interests, needs and abilities and is based on local, state, and national standards.
    • Effectively conduct a student-centered classroom.
    • Provide multiple opportunities and pathways for students to demonstrate mastery of skills and concepts.
    • Generate and analyze data to inform instruction.
    • Actively participate in both department and school-wide professional development opportunities and school-sponsored events.
     
    SALARY: In accordance with the agreement between the Region 19 Board of Education and the Region 19 Teachers’ Association, the 2024-25 salary range is $51,746 - $99,574.
