Equity Champions 2024-2025 (Title IV)
Equity, at its core, ensures that every student is a powerful learner and reaches their intellectual capacity so that they can participate in deeper learning. An equity team fosters a school community where all students feel a sense of value, belonging, cultural safety, and an understanding of bias/means to address the bias.
Edison Township Public Schools invites you to apply to serve as an Equity Champion. There will be one champion (per school). The role of an Equity Champion is to help communicate district equity goals to the building-based equity team and larger school communities. Equity Champions will also serve as a point of contact for their respective school equity team, that will promote cultural safety, equity informed practices, and an understanding of bias in all forms. This is a grant-funded program that runs from July 1, 2024-June 30,2025.
Qualified Candidates should
be a 10-month employee (certificated)
be able to communicate effectively with staff members and administrators in the building
be able to effectively collaborate with staff members
be familiar with culturally responsive teaching framework and equitable practices
Equity Champion Responsibilities:
Attend (1) monthly meeting facilitated by the Officer of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (before school)
Attend three district-based equity coaching professional learning sessions led by the Officer of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Facilitate (1) monthly equity team meeting in respective building
Submit a brief monthly report that highlights educational equity activities at respective school
Plan and host one school event with school equity team that addresses equity (value,belonging, cultural safety)
Participate in planning of the district Diversity Equity & Inclusion Showcase and attend the showcase March/April 2025
Interested applicants should include a brief cover letter of how they have ensured equity in their classroom/building wide and why they are interested in this position.
Equity Champions will earn a $30 per hour stipend for a 50-hour commitment during the 2024-2025 school year.

Qualified Candidates should

Equity Champion Responsibilities:
