POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: PART TIME BUS DRIVER
REPORTS TO: TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR
STARTING SALARY RANGE WITH A CDL: $20.34- $22.73/ HOUR
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for transporting students in safe manner to, from and between schools. This position may also transport students to field trips and athletic events.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be age 21.
Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
Must meet motor vehicle eligibility guidelines from Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool.
Colorado Department of Revenue Commercial Drivers License Class B with P2 and S endorsements required.
First Aid/CPR Certification required.
Colorado Department of Education annual testing required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform daily pre and post trip safety inspections of the bus in accordance with Colorado Department of Education, state, and federal regulations and Eaton School District policies and procedures.
Drive assigned route according to routing directions and follow schedule for student pickup and drop off times as provided.
Maintain appropriate student behavior in order to allow for safe vehicle operation.
Assist in the loading and unloading of students, especially those with special needs.
Clean inside and the outside of bus.
Complete all daily pre and post trip forms, mileage reports, field trip forms and student bus conduct notices.
Periodically review and update bus route.
Report all unsafe route directions or bus stop locations to Transportation Director.
Attend in-service training and meetings.
Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be needed for the efficient performance of the district’s transportation department.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Thorough knowledge of transportation rules and regulations including adequate record keeping for CDE and Department of Transportation compliance requirements for the district.
Knowledge of town and county roads.
Knowledge of student behavior and management techniques.
Ability to communicate with students, parents and staff members and work as transportation team member.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will work both indoors and outdoors in public school settings and in various sized spaces. The employee must be in good physical and mental health. The employee must be able to safely pull 55 pounds and push overhead with a total of 70 pounds of force. This position will require extensive sitting. Successful applicant will be offered conditional employment subject to a post offer medical review.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work hours are to be recommended by the Transportation Director. The number of work hours and salary will be established by the Board of Education with the benefits and retirement that apply to personnel according to Board of Education policy. Job requirements may include evening and weekend responsibilities as well as out-of-district travel.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policies that apply to supervisory personnel.

It is a school-centered community that takes pride in their schools. Eaton school district serves around 1990 students in five schools, three elementary, one middle, and one high school. Eaton Elementary serves 411 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, Benjamin Eaton Elementary serves 395 in kindergarten through fifth grade, and Galeton Elementary serves 130 students on the eastern side of the district in preschool through fifth. Eaton Middle school hosts 485 students in sixth, seventh, and eight grades and Eaton High School serves 580 students from ninth to twelfth grade. Eaton and Galeton are a short drive north of Greeley and east of Fort Collins, Colorado. Primarily an agricultural community, Eaton retains its small town charm while attracting families that work in larger towns/cities. Our proximity to Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park provides our students access to high-quality museums, amenities, and events. We are within a short drive of four different colleges/universities, Aims Community College, Colorado State University, Front Range Community College, and the University of Northern Colorado.
