Assistant Principal

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   
1. Assume responsibility for the well-being of the school in the absence of the principal.
2. Help principals develop, maintain, and use information systems to track data and monitor progress on-campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.

5. Supervise students before, during, and after school including bus duty.

9. Assume responsibility for securing, distributing, and accounting for all textbooks in the school.
10. Assist in plant maintenance, safety drills, and inspections.
11. Assist in budgetary responsibilities.
12. Assist in the professional development of staff.
13. Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.  
14. Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
15. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
16. Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and the community.
17. Contribute to a positive environment for the school.
18. Prepare duty rosters for school staff.
19. Assist with the supervision of paraprofessional staff.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.

PK-3 Instructional Literacy Coach

The position for a PK-3 Instructional Literacy Coach will be available at East Central ISD for the 2025-2026 school year. PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Instructional Coach will provide instructional support and coaching to teachers as they work to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential. The Instructional Coach’s primary role is to work with teachers to support best practices in using data, provide analysis of school-wide trends in instruction, and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need.  Specifically, they will focus on early literacy to increase teacher knowledge and implementation of evidence-based practices to positively impact student literacy achievement. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning. 
2. Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem-solving. 
3. Attend and support the implementation of Texas Reading Academies in classrooms.
4. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
5. Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff.
6. Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
7. Develop curriculum support materials as needed.
8. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in the area assigned.
9. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
10. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.

Special Education Co-Teacher 

The position of a Special Education Co-Teacher will be available at East Central ISD for the 2024-2025 school year.  All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 pm., November 16, 2024, or until the position is filled.   

POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE:  Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.  Assist and support building principals to ensure on-site administration and execution of the district’s educational programs, policies, and regulations and quality instruction for all students in a safe and healthy environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through the ARD committee process for each student assigned.
2. Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required. 
3. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect the understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
4. Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curriculum as needed and assist special education students in regular classes with assignments.
5. Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
6. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan for instructional activities. 
7. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by IEP.
8. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of each student assigned.
9. Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer (s).
10. Use technology in the teaching/learning process.
11. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
12. Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, and feeding of students as stated in IEP.
13. Provide direct support to students in a classroom by delivering instruction and ensuring learning through a variety of co-teaching models and strategies. 
14. Design classroom activities and lessons with multiple levels so that all students both meet their IEP goals.
15. Work collaboratively with the General Education Co-Teacher, the grade-level team, and other staff to plan, share student work, and ensure that instruction is aligned with identified curriculum and standards.
16. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.  Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Education/Certificate:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate – Generalist or Core Subjects EC-6 and Special Education EC-12  

EQUIPMENT USED:  Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate]  

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours.  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students.  Exposure to biological hazards.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:   Facilitates effective Social Emotional Learning (SEL) instruction through specials rotation. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision and support of the school administration and counselor.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Check on students who struggle with behavior in the classroom.
2. Work with campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
3. Provide social skills to students who struggle with behavior on campus.
4. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside, and outside the classroom.  This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
5. Keep the teacher informed of the special needs or problems of individual students.
6. Teach character education and social skills to the entire student body through special’s rotation.
7. Plan with the school counselor and assistant principal to support the social and emotional learning of students.
8. Conduct classroom systems fidelity checks.
9. Be a check-in/check-out mentor for students.
10. Conduct social skills lessons with individuals and small groups of students on an as-needed basis. 
11. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
12. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
13. Assist the school administration where needed.
14. Maintain confidentiality.
15. Perform other duties as related to the enhancement and supports of a Title 1 school-wide program.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Work directly with students in the pre-kindergarten classrooms.
2. Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
3. Assist teacher in preparing instructional material and classroom displays. 
4. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
5. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
6. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
7. Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.

1. Assist the assigned teacher in general, supportive, and specialized instructional classroom services in designated settings.

5. Have regular attendance.
