QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with SLP endorsement(s) for PreK-8 minimum.
Summary:
Under the supervision of the building principal and the Director of Student Services, the speech and language pathologist is responsible for evaluating students' speech and language skills, providing therapeutic intervention to identified students and consulting with staff and/or parents regarding speech and language functioning in the educational setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
• Identifies and evaluates students with speech and language impairments.
• Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and language impaired children.
• Participates in the determination of eligibility for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.
• Participates in the teacher and parent conferences including multidisciplinary conferences, IEP meetings and Annual Reviews.
• Develops and implements IEPs for all students eligible for special education and related services in the area of speech and language impairment.
• Team teaches with classroom teachers.
• Completes required documentation and reports.
• Participates on case study and collaboration teams as needed.
• Facilitates curriculum and instructional modifications.
• Participates in continuing professional education.
• Must have valid Illinois Drivers License.
