Nature of Position:
• The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• The Preschool Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a program to teach young children. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant federal, territorial, and municipal legislation and policies.
• The Preschool Teacher will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Failure to provide adequate services may place children at risk.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children
• Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program
• Provide adequate equipment and activities
• Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well-maintained, and safe at all times

WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Caring for children can be physically demanding.
• The Preschool Teacher may be lifting and carrying children and equipment, and may spend time sitting on the floor or child sized furniture.

Saint Patrick School Substitute Teacher
Part-Time or Full-Time on an as-needed basis

Basic Job Description:
Fill in for teacher absenses and teach pupils at the elementary level basic academic, social, and other formative skills in keeping with the school’s Catholic character and Gospel values.

Responsibilities/Tasks for: "Elementary School Substitute Teacher"
1. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
2. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
3. Follow teacher instructions or lesson plan.
4. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
5. Conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
6. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
7. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
8. Assign class work and homework.
9. Read books to entire classes or small groups.
10. Administer tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress.
11. Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
12. Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests.
13. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
14. Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
15. Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
16. Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
17. Lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
18. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence for Act 48.
19. Supervise class projects, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
20. Administer standardized ability and achievement tests.
21. Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
22. Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms.
23. Prepare and supervise students for Mass as well as other sacramental preparation.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required)
• Must be 21 years old or older.
• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferrably in education or a related field.
• Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Must comply with PA State clearance requirements.
• A State teaching certification is preferred, but not required.
• Must be a Catholic in good standing if teaching religion. Otherwise, must be willing to respect the Catholic Church's teachings on morality.
