Basic Job Description: Teach pupils at the elementary level basic academic, social, and other formative skills in keeping with the school’s Catholic character and Gospel values.

Reports to: Principal

Responsibilities/Tasks for Elementary School Teacher:
1. Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon the request of immediate supervisors.
2. Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
3. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning while following approved curricula.
4. Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines and requirements of the state, diocese, and school.
5. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
6. Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and persevere with challenging tasks.
7. Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies. Prepare, organize, and label materials. Prepare the classroom for class activities. Create displays of students' work.
8. Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
9. Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers, or other experiential activities. Guide students in learning from those activities.
10. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
11. Organize and lead activities, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling, to promote physical, mental, and social development.
12. Read books to entire classes or small groups.
13. Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
14. Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
15. Assign and grade classwork and homework.

23. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress, determine their priorities, and evaluate their resource needs.
24. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, diocesan policies, and administrative regulations.
25. Prepare reports on students and activities as required by the administration.
26. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
27. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
28. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
29. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of elementary school programs.
30. Maintain and improve professional competence for Pennsylvania Act 48 by attending professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
31. Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers.
32. Involve parent volunteers and older students in children's activities in order to facilitate involvement in focused, complex play.
33. Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms.
34. Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.
35. Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
36. Prepare and supervise students for Mass as well as other sacramental preparations.

Nature of Position: The job of Custodian (Day or Night) was established for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; and performing minor repairs and preventive maintenance; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure.

Reports to: School Principal.

Supervises: None

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Any or all of the following duties many be assigned;
• Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and special events.
• Cleans school facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, restrooms, lunch rooms, halls, carpets, removes graffiti, windows, walls, gyms, bleachers, stage, locker rooms, sidewalks, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment at the school.
• Completes employer required training for the purpose of maintaining current knowledge regarding specific job and/or diocesan, state and federal rules, regulations, policies and procedures and laws.
• Distributes supplies, equipment and/or mail (e.g. fill soap dispensers, towel/toilet paper dispensers, packages, furniture, TV/VCR carts, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating materials to appropriate parties and/or locations.
• Executes minor repairs (e.g. assembles furniture, changing ballast, plumbing, locks, windows, ceiling tiles, filters, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
• Informs students, staff, and visitors for the purpose of providing information regarding activities, safety and/or proper maintenance of facilities.
• Inspects school facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying/reporting necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
• Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly stock facilities.
• Oversees students assigned to cafeteria or other duties for the purpose of ensuring students receive appropriate instruction, direction and oversight while volunteering and/or assigned to cafeteria detail.
• Prepares facility for daily operations (depending on shift) (e.g. opening gates, raising flags, unlocks doors, removing snow, crossing signs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and safe for occupancy.
• Provides assistance to others to schedule the facilities for the purpose of ensuring facility usage is accurately scheduled and providing assistance and information to those requesting use of facilities.
• Helps respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning physical and educational environment.
• Secures facilities and grounds (depending on shift) (e.g. lock doors, turn off lights, sets alarm, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to the district
• Attends in-service training (e.g., instruction on blood-borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
• Services job-related machinery/equipment (e.g., adjusting, cleaning, and oiling vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in good working condition. Also changes brushes, pads, rollers, etc. on equipment.
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
• Works under direct supervision using standardized routines.
• Provides information and/or advises others and operates within a defined budget.
• Utilizes some resources from other work units as required to perform the job's functions.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in industrial maintenance including electrical cleaning equipment, common tools, etc.; and adhering to safety practices.

Physical requirements:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting up to 30 pounds unassisted for the purpose of lifting equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks, occasionally may need to lift up to 75lbs, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing using ladders and/or scaffolding for the purpose of cleaning, changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, etc.; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 90% walking, and 5% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Position Description
• A school administrative assistant works in the administrative office of an elementary school and is responsible for performing daily clerical work. The job description of a school administrative assistant involves interacting with students and parents, tracking attendance records, mailing school forms, and managing the school calendar.
• A school secretary answers the office phone and transfers calls as necessary,  maintains student records, welcomes school visitors, and handles any day-to-day clerical needs required by the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a School administrative assistant
• Answer telephone and addresses caller questions and concerns.
• Transfers calls to proper individual and/or department as needed.
• Mails student report cards, school brochures, and other necessary forms.
• Welcomes visitors to the school and provides directions around the building as needed.

• Order Books for each grade after approved by principal.   Collect book requests from teachers, submit to vendors for price quote, enter price quote and order info into NPIS system for Diocesan approval.  Once approved and shipped, compare order to shipment for accuracy, stamp books for ownership, distribute to teachers and mark as received.
