The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks a full time (40 hours per week) Maintenance Foreperson (Buildings) effective immediately. This is a provisional civil service position in the competitive class title of Maintenance Foreperson (Buildings). The successful candidate must meet the minimum qualifications for the job title established and approved by the Westchester County Department of Human Resources. The position may become permanent upon the (1) successful completion of a mandatory 12-month probationary period; (2) receiving a passing score on the civil service examination for the title; (3) being reachable on the eligibility list established by the civil service and; (4) board of education approval.
Minimum Required Experience:
A minimum of six years mechanical repair, maintenance and installation experience, two years of which must have involved the layout of work and scheduling and assignment of work.*
- Thorough knowledge of the tools, processes, terminology and techniques associated with mechanical repair, maintenance and installation work.
- Knowledge of accident/safety precautions.
- Valid NYS Driver's License.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential function of the position; physical strength and agility.

Duties/Responsibilities: Under general supervision, the successful candidate performs skilled maintenance and repair work of buildings and provides direct supervision of a variety of workers involved in the maintenance and repair of school district buildings, equipment, and related facilities.
- Assign work, instruct staff and requisition supplies;
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs to HVAC system and its mechanical components. Repairing, maintaining, and installing a variety of pipes, fittings, fixtures, motors and machine parts;
- Perform General Contract work: plaster, taping and sanding walls; erecting frames and drywall; prepare subfloors, lay tile, repair variety of masonry (concrete, brick and stone);
- Maintain and repair locking devices; repair, maintain, replace and install electrical equipment to ensure equipment functions correctly and efficiently;
- Repair, maintain, replace and install plumbing fixtures and pipes to ensure equipment functions correctly and efficiently;
- Supervise and participate in daily maintenance of facilities, including cleaning and groundskeeping, as needed.
Compensation: Annual salary range $75,000 - $93,000 prorated based on start date. Terms of employment are in accordance with CSEA Custodial contract.
