Description:
Derby Public Schools is seeking two qualified Speech and Language Pathologist to serve as an integral part of the Planning and Placement Team for the Pre-K and Elementary Level. The Speech and Language Pathologist will function as a member of the total diagnostic team by providing assessment, comprehensive differential diagnosis, educational planning and support as well as therapy for students with speech/language communication disorders and delays. Speech and language services may be delivered in a variety of ways alone or in collaboration with teachers and other service providers in order to best support students in the general curriculum, i.e., the least restrictive environment.
Job Summary: Providing high quality speech-language therapy services.
Conducting assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills.
Developing treatment plans (IEPs) that are strength-based as well as child and family centered for overall educational improvement.
Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans and service delivery are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines.
Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.
Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum accommodations, modifications and appropriate classroom strategies and data collection.
Other duties as directed by the Supervisor of Special Education and Building Administrator.
Qualifications: - Must possess or be eligible for CT Certification (061)
- Knowledge of ABA principals preferred
- PECS Level 1 certification and AAC experience preferred
- PMT certified
