DENISON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
 
JOB TITLE: General Maintenance/Kitchen Technician       DEPARTMENT: Facilities 
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities                                        Maintenance - 260 Days
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Perform overall maintenance & repairs associated in the following areas:
1. General maintenance at all district facilities inside and outside.
Preventative maintenance on various equipment around the district.
2. Kitchen equipment maintenance including but not limited to preventative filter changes, cleaning vent-a-hoods, exhaust fans, etc.
3.  Assist with maintenance of grounds when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED  
Valid Texas driver’s license – Class C or higher
“Preferred”, but not required – Lo-temp refrigeration or technicians certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to operate hand and power tools
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair problems
Ability to read schematics and perform electrical connections to equipment
Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair
Demonstrate ability to work and get along with people and exhibit professionalism in all work related matters.
 
Experience:
Three years maintenance experience related to repairs and assessments of commercial equipment and/or related experiences in an education environment
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Provide immediate response to all trouble calls for any and all work order related request
• Repair, replace and perform work as needed on kitchen equipment and lo-temp equipment needs
• Assist other technicians as needed to complete work requiring multiple tradesmen.
• Ensure high quality workmanship and support to campus’s and staff
• Conduct professionalism with campus staff and within all areas of workmanship.
• Perform high quality preventative maintenance work on designated frequencies.
EQUIPMENT USED:
            Hand tools and electric tools, meters, gauges, ladders, specialty tools, aerial equipment,
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Continuous walking and standing; bending and stooping, reaching above shoulder level, lifting and carrying, operating electrical hand tools and other motorized equipment including aerial equipment and on occasion pulling trailers.

Bus Driver

Job Description
Ensure safe and orderly transportation of student son assigned routes.  Operate school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated location.

Qualifications
Must have a valid Driver license.  CDL class A or B with Passenger (P) and School bus (S) endorsements.  Clear background and license check.  School bus driving experience helpful.  Certification classes must be completed after hired.  Must be 18 years of age or older.  Ability to pass alcohol and drug test.  Ability to complete required bus driver safety training.  Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.  Ability to communicate effectively.  Knowledge of student discipline procedures.  Ability to manage student behavior.  Abilty to operate a bus.

Vehicle Operation
 
1. Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules
2. Drive bus to and from extracurricular activites
3. Check bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs
4. Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures.  Complete required reports.
5. Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
Student Management
1. Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street.
2. Communicate with teachers and parents on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on bus
3. Maintain discipline; report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator
4. Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations
Safety
1. Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses
2. Inspect bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving
3. Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crow bar, and reflector
4. Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately
5. Install snow chains during inclement weather
6. Report any hazardous conditions along the route
Other
1. Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office
2. Work irregular hours as needed
3. Attend and complete required training program to maintain safety certification
4. Keep records on bus mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported.

Student Management
 
1. Assist students on and off the bus according to their individual needs including lifting and carrying students with disabilities.
2. Supervise students as they board and exit the bus and cross the street following established safety procedures.
3. Instruct students on safe entering, exiting, and riding rules and regulations.
4. Learn and adapt to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
5. Manage student behavior and report student discipline problems in a timely manner to appropriate administrator.
6. Communicate with teachers and parents regarding student behavior while on bus.

7. Complete and maintain accurate, updated, and timely records and reports including route sheet and daily non-notification forms.

8. Operate equipment according to established safety procedures. Make sure that seat belts, harnesses, or car seats are used correctly and help students use safety devises when needed.
9. Follow emergency procedures including evacuation of students as needed and assist driver to administer first aid, if necessary.
10. Follow established procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and assisting students.
