This part-time seasonal position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of concession stands at Rotary Park and the Youth Ball Diamonds for the Decatur Park District. Employees must possess knowledge of cash handling, food safety regulations, and the policies of the facility. The role requires providing a positive image of the Decatur Park District through attentive, conscientious, and courteous behavior.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the concession supervisor

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
• Stock and display concession products for sale, replenishing as necessary.
• Prepare and serve food and beverages, including grilling food items.
• Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register, including collecting payments and making change.
• Maintain cleanliness by wiping down counters, cleaning tables, and sweeping the concession area.
• Empties trash cans and replaces liners.
• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Report low inventory or equipment problems to supervisors.
• Clean restrooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies.
• Complete the Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) and Illinois Food Handler Training as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by park supervisors.

AVAILABILITY:
• Must be able to work various shifts and schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on staffing needs.
• Schedule may fluctuate depending on weather conditions.
• Available for overtime as needed.
• Seasonal part-time, preferably available from March to November.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact positively with the public.
• Basic understanding of concession operations and cash control.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Capacity to work effectively in a team and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and patrons.
• Self-motivated with good time management skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:
• High school student, high school graduate, or G.E.D.
• Minimum age of 16 is prefered

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• General work area is the concession stands at Rotary Park and the Youth Ball Diamonds.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potential noise distractions.
