Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a School-Based Mental Health Therapist to provide mental health consultation and crisis intervention services (including lethality screens) for students experiencing mental health concerns for the 2025-26 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a School-Based Mental Health Therapist you are required to:
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience/training in provision of initial therapeutic assessments, individual and family psychotherapy, and development appropriate treatment plans.
- Experience with a multi-tiered system of support
- Valid Ohio administrative license or certificate appropriate for the assignment
As a School-Based Mental Health Therapist to promote workplace safety, employees are expected to exercise caution and comply with district procedures to reduce exposure to the following situations:
- Duties that require operating and/or riding in a vehicle
- Duties that require traveling to meetings and work assignments
- Duties that require working 5 total extended days before and after the school year
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases
- Interactions with aggressive, disruptive, and /or unruly individuals
- Promote personal growth and well being for students, school personnel, and parents through consultation, counseling, inservice, and related activities.
- Provides initial therapeutic assessments, individual and family psychotherapy, and develops appropriate treatment plans for the most chronic students with mental health concerns
- Recognizing the needs of individual students and the entire group and offering support and flexibility as needed.
- Working as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the goals of our District.
- Utilizing technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Participating in professional development activities that are aligned with district and building goals, assigned subject content and the varied needs of students.
What We Offer:
As a contracted employee, Mental Health Therapist work 183 days per year with a possibility of 5 extended days and 7.25 hours per day .
Starting salary is $48,715.00 with increases for additional education and experience.
