PROGRAM COORDINATOR
CULINARY, PASTRY ARTS AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
Reports to: Principal
Certification: Valid teaching certificate in Food Services, Hospitality & Management Services.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in coordinating the annual inventory of program area equipment and supplies as directed by the Principal.
2. Be cognizant of equipment and supply needs and repairs in the program area and communicate same to Principal.
3. Assist teachers in developing classroom management procedures for control and accountability of materials, equipment, supplies, and students.
4. Make teachers aware of the availability of teacher assistants and encourage the inclusion of same in the teaching process.
5. To serve as resource person as colleagues develop competency-based curriculum.
6. Encourage teachers of the same subject areas to meet and discuss common curriculum problems through a self-directed “seminar” approach.
7. Encourage teachers to implement innovative and creative curricula.
8. Assist teachers in developing and maintaining good housekeeping procedures for assigned program areas.
9. Assist program teachers with student/parent matters.
10. Assist teachers in marketing of program and student operated enterprises.
11. Develop and maintain connections with advisory council members and business partners.
12. Coordinate and monitor student participation in local, state, and national competitions.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Note: The position is one of coordinating, communicating, supporting, and assisting the program staff under the direction of the Principal. It is not a supervising, evaluating, or decision-making position.
Qualifications:
- Certified to teach and actively involved in teaching in a program in the area of assignment.
- Proven leadership abilities in working with staff members.
- Proven ability to develop competency-based curricula and effectively manage a program.
Program Specific Responsibilities:
1. Establish and maintain legal, efficient, and effective controls for all revenue and expenditure of funds in accordance with the adopted budget. 2. Coordinate class coverage for absent teachers.
3. Prepare requisitions and bid specifications for all equipment and supply purchases.
4. Act as liaison for the ProStart and ACF programs.
