Starting Hourly Rate Range: $25.00-$29.00, commensurate with experience

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Knowledge of custodial work, mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and general building maintenance
- Previous experience as a custodian in a school setting preferred
- Ability to communicate fluently in English, verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- General computer skills with the ability to use email, monitor and adjust Building Automation System (BAS), cameras, security, and word processing software
- Must work well with others and interact with students and staff appropriately
- Ability to apply common sense and understanding in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (repetitive lifting)
- Ability to use power tools, hand tools and work off ladders and lifts
Reports to:
School Principal and Director of Buildings and Grounds or designee
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide a wide variety of custodial, maintenance, grounds and repair work to ensure the upkeep and cleanliness of the school
- Supervise custodial staff duties for assigned school
- Monitor the schedule and attendance records of the building custodial staff for the purpose of certifying the records for payroll
- Inspect site and grounds daily for safe operations and identifying necessary repairs to facilities and/or equipment, etc.
- Secure facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage while ensuring a safe and secure environment for students and staff
- Keep all sidewalks, parking lots, and building entrances clear and clean
- Responsible for snow removal and salting of sidewalks and entrances in a timely manner prior to the beginning of the school day and throughout the school day as necessary
- Oversee the preparation of facilities for classroom activities and campus events, verifying all assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner, including, and not limited to, setups, breakdowns, moving tables, chairs, equipment and shelving for meetings and special events, including weekends as necessary
- Manage the shipping and receiving area, including checking in and delivering packages as needed
- Perform building and equipment repairs in a timely manner as needed
- Implement and maintain knowledge of all district policies and established cleaning procedures
- Maintain and clean lunchroom(s) on a daily basis
- Responsible for the building's inventory, storage, and ordering of supplies and equipment
- Maintain and operate building HVAC using the Building Automation System to adjust individual location set-points and schedule
- Complete appropriate inspection forms including playgrounds, boiler and egress lighting
- Clean up spills (including bodily fluids) in a safe and appropriate manner
- Assist in and direct the activities of summer cleaning projects and programs for the purpose of ensuring all work is completed within established schedules
- Interact thoughtfully, courteously and in a professional manner with students, staff and parents
- Work with contractors and vendors as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Terms of Employment:
12 Month Position; salary and benefits as determined annually by the D28 Board of Education
