Job Title: K-12 Paraprofessional

Job Type: 185 days per year
Salary: Starting at $15.86 per hour, based on experience
Job Summary:
The K-12 Paraprofessional provides instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of a licensed teacher. The paraprofessional assists in classroom activities, student supervision, and individualized student support to promote a positive learning environment. This role plays a crucial part in fostering student success and ensuring a well-managed educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
Provide individualized or small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
Support students with special needs, including physical, behavioral, or academic assistance.
Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and playgrounds.
Help maintain a structured and safe classroom environment.
Prepare learning materials and resources for classroom activities.
Assist in managing student behavior and reinforcing positive discipline strategies.
Monitor student progress and communicate observations to teachers.
Support students with daily living skills as needed.
Follow all school policies, procedures, and confidentiality regulations.
Specialized Support Areas:
Mild/Moderate Classrooms:
Provide academic and behavioral support to students with mild to moderate disabilities.
Assist in adapting curriculum and classroom materials to meet individual student needs.
Facilitate social and emotional learning interventions.
Encourage student independence and self-regulation strategies.
Moderate to Intensive Classrooms:
Work closely with students requiring significant academic and behavioral support.
Assist with daily living skills, mobility, and personal care tasks as needed.
Implement behavior intervention plans under teacher supervision.
Utilize specialized equipment and assistive technology to support student learning.
Foster a highly structured and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree or 48 semester hours of college coursework preferred.
Valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit (or ability to obtain one).
Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow teacher instructions and work collaboratively with staff.
Patience, adaptability, and a passion for supporting student learning.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift light classroom materials.
Capability to assist students with mobility and daily tasks as needed.
