Lead and oversee the Facilities Maintenance and custodial teams.
Create and manage both short- and long-term maintenance plans (e.g., emergency response, energy management, and annual budgeting) to ensure optimal use of district resources.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise proactive, routine, and preventive maintenance to ensure all facilities are well-maintained and operational.
Support emergency responses, severe weather events, and system-wide school closures.
Oversee facility rentals and manage the coordination of building and field usage.
Organize and manage special events to ensure proper facility readiness.
Develop and manage facilities and custodial budgets, monitoring expenses to remain within budget while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Manage vendor contracts, negotiate service agreements, and oversee documentation, including contract renewals.
Ensure all construction projects meet building codes and safety regulations.
Manage projects (e.g., repairs, construction, and preventive maintenance) to ensure timely completion, adherence to design, and budget alignment.
Collaborate with contractors and architects on school system construction initiatives.
Inspect new construction, repair projects, equipment, work orders, and daily maintenance activities to confirm compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Approve inspection reports and payment requests.
Oversee the repair and maintenance of critical infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Maintain elevators and lifts, ensuring regular inspections and upkeep.
Implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce the district’s carbon footprint and utility costs. Understanding of local, state, and federal building codes, safety regulations, environmental laws, and energy efficiency standards.
Monitor energy usage and propose strategies for improving energy efficiency. Knowledge of building automation systems
Advocate for sustainability practices across the district.
Attend relevant state job-alike meetings.
Provide guidance on water conservation and energy-saving techniques.
Oversee the purchasing, storage, and inventory management of facilities and maintenance equipment and supplies.
Manage the maintenance and service records for Facilities and Maintenance vehicles.
Research new products, laws, and regulations to inform purchasing recommendations and maintain district-wide services.
Monitor financial activities and fund balances of assigned programs to ensure expenses remain within budget and adhere to fiscal guidelines.
Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to share and gather necessary information.
Proficiency with facility management software (CMMS or CAFM systems)
Maintain personnel records, including attendance and absences.
Recommend new hires, promotions, transfers, or terminations to ensure adequate staffing and productivity, while staying within budget.
Maintain a professional literature library for reference.
Participate in professional development and staff training programs.
Strong communication and project management abilities.
Attend seminars and conferences on Facilities and Maintenance Administration.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the department functions effectively and efficiently.
