POSITION: INSTRUCTIONAL and BEHAVIOR COACH (IBC) - Location Freedom Elementary POSITION SUMMARY: To provide professional development and coaching around Response to Intervention and identified needs to fully implement the District Improvement Plan; To model academic and behavioral interventions; To assist with data analysis and progress monitoring for academic and behavioral interventions; To provide coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance/consultation for classroom teachers and students, with emphasis on effective instructional practices; To assist in developing, implementing and monitoring the district curriculum and benchmark assessments at the building level.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Kentucky teacher certification and a Rank II/Master’s Degree
- Minimum of six years successful teaching experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and national standards
- Deep knowledge of reading, writing, literacy development, and/or math

REPORTS TO Chief Instructional Officer
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Focus - Facilitate curriculum and benchmark assessment development/refinement work at the district and building levels
- Assist teachers in developing and implementing formative assessment practices that are aligned to curriculum maps and pacing guides
- Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching with participants to support them in implementing good instructional practices.
- Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessments.
- Assist teachers in their professional learning as a trained peer observer in the
- Professional Growth and Evaluation System
- Assist teachers in analyzing formative assessment data to inform instructional practices
- Assist teachers and school leadership in implementing a Response to Intervention program through professional development, coaching, and monitoring.
- Model effective, differentiated instruction and how to appropriately intervene in a
- Response to Intervention program
- Assist new teachers, in a collaborative model of observation, conversation, and lesson demonstration, to analyze and reflect on their practice to promote quality instructional practices.
- Support the principal in facilitating professional learning community groups and/or grade-level teams among teachers in which issues related to implementing effective content instruction are considered, current research and writing on effective practice is read and discussed, engaging lessons are planned, and student work and data are reviewed to inform instruction.
- Provide comprehensive/balanced training in and across given subject areas and curricular areas.
- Implement a collaborative coaching and learning approach.
- Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions.
- Work collaboratively and collegially with other coaches, district specialists, building leadership and district leadership.

Behavioral Focus - Assist school leadership in developing and promoting the components and operation of a proactive school-wide discipline system that includes procedures for teaching school-wide behavioral expectations; procedures for encouraging school- wide behavioral expectations; procedures for discouraging rule violations and problem behavior; and procedures for monitoring, adapting, and enhancing implementation
- Promote fundamental strategies and system of classroom management that includes classroom-wide positive expectations taught and encouraged, and the teaching of classroom routines and cues taught and encouraged
- Assist the principal with guiding strategic data-based action planning with school teams that includes data collection, analysis and summarization, development of data-based action plans, organization of teams, review of data, analysis and prioritization of problems, development of specific measurable outcomes, selection of evidence-based practices, provision of supports for sustained adoption and implementation and monitoring of implementation and progress toward outcome
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: | 185-day employee with flexible calendar. The salary will be determined by the adopted teacher’s salary schedule of the Christian County Board of Education. |
