Assistant Principal QUALIFICATIONS:
· A minimum of a Master’s degree, Specialist’s degree or higher preferred
· A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience
· Strong leadership qualities and organizational skills
· Knowledgeable of Ga Standards of Excellence and best practices in differentiated instruction
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Willingness to attend and supervise extracurricular activities
· Successful administrative/leadership experience preferred
· Holds eligible GaPSC Leadership certification/eligible for appropriate GaPSC Leadership certification
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Chattahoochee County Board of Education and Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure student growth and achievement for all are measurable and continuous.
Assist in the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and assessments; interprets and implements the district-approved curriculum programs and assessments, and effectively monitors progress and supports innovation.
Provide assistance in the formulation and implementation of general school processes and regulations.
Assist in maintaining highest level of auxiliary services including the daily supervision and operation of maintenance, inspection, safety and care of the physical plant and student services.
Provide leadership in meeting short and long-range facility needs at assigned campus.
Act quickly to stop possible breaches of safety, ineffective procedures or interferences with operations or auxiliary/support services.
Maintain a calendar of all school events and communicates consistently and proactively with all stakeholders.
Assists to define and disseminate information about school discipline policy and procedures to parents, students, staff, and community. Maintain discipline throughout the campus. Ethically adheres to all requirements for discipline investigations.
Assist the principal in evaluation and supervision of certified and noncertified staff members.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all stakeholders as well as ensure visibility throughout the campus, events, and community.
Assist in implementing the school’s public relations by communicating established goals.
Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups to accomplish set tasks.
Assists in the supervision of student enrollment, records, attendance, budgets, health requirements, and inventory of equipment provided to the campus. Maintains oversight of inventory and ensures compliance with all reporting requirements.
Promotes and maintains open communications, positive student attitudes, respects dignity and worth of staff and students, and complies with established lines of authority.
Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school and assumes leadership of the school in the absence of the principal.
Model and maintain high standards of professional conduct.
Essential Job Functions
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics of data, people, or things.
Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, articles, proposals, contracts, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations, policies, etc. using professional formats.
Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations. Must be able to work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve objectives; directing other persons within work units; and monitoring budget expenditures.
