NATURE OF WORK
The employee identifies and treats health disorders among students and provides instruction in the maintenance of good health and disease prevention. The employee must evaluate the physical conditions of students and refer students to appropriate resources as needed. Decisions made by this employee require discretionary judgment and analysis. Errors may not be easily discernible and may result in serious impact on the individual child and others. The work of this employee is seldom reviewed while in progress and is performed under general supervision.
The School Nurse is responsible for general acute and chronic nursing service to students in three schools, along with administrative responsibilities.  


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of training necessary for licensing as a registered nurse, BSN preferred and experience in pediatrics and/or public health nursing preferred.  Must meet the requirements for certification as a Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN) when initial employment and educational requirements are met.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Monitors compliance of school health program with federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies.
2.      Initiates program changes as needed.
3.      Prepares health reports for supervisor.
4.      Collaborates with other child-support agencies in designing and providing a school health program.
5.      Negotiates professional and medical services essential to the school health program.
6.      Provides first aid care and medically prescribed services.
7.      Maintains security of school health supplies.
8.     Serves as a resource person on health issues.
9.     Provides staff development on health-related topics for school staff and volunteers.
10.  Screens and conducts health appraisals for students and staff.
11.  Provides follow-up evaluations on students as required.
12.  Recommends corrective action where problems are identified.
13.  Conducts home visits when appropriate.
14.  Corresponds with parents on health needs of children.
15.  Records immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data.


MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES

Physical Requirements:  Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, and a variety of medical equipment and conduct routine medical procedures.  Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle.  Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
Data Conception:  Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communication:  Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information.  Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations, contracts, policies, handbooks, budgets, etc., using prescribed formats.  Requires the ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence.

3.      Working knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies.
4.      Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services.

NATURE OF WORK 
 
The Families in Transition Case Manager is a summer position that works with Chatham County School staff and community partners to support students and their families identified during the school year as being in transition, such as those experiencing homelessness. Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the Families in Transition Liaison will promote student growth and achievement by providing services that strengthen home, school, and community partnerships and eliminate barriers to school and life success.
 
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 
 
Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work. Ability to work effectively with families that live in transition, school staff, and community partners. Demonstrated ability to speak, understand, read and write fluently in English and/or Spanish; or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 
1. Assist with the re-identification and immediately enroll McKinney Vento students over the summer. 
2. Under the supervision of the McKinney Vento Liaison, develop and deliver programming and services for children and families in the populations served.
3. Generate a bank of community resources that can be given to families identified by the program. 
4. Collaborates with community agencies and LEA programs to help obtain needed services for families over the summer. 
5.  Providing timely, accurate, and responsive support to families, schools, programs, and other departments during the summer.
6. Assist with providing necessary professional development for stakeholders during the summer. 
7. Assures that McKinney Vento families know their educational rights and that the educational rights of families are posted throughout the district. 
8. Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
9. Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and board policy.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Federal Programs.

NATURE OF WORK 
 
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Federal Programs and the Executive Director of Student Services, employee will provide support for school based social workers through peer observations, mentoring and leading PLC meetings.  Employee will also serve as the McKinney-Vento Liaison and be responsible for  identifying and ensuring the immediate enrollment of all eligible McKinney-Vento. In addition, under general supervision, employee must act as a liaison between school-based staff and McKinney Vento families and the Department of DSS. Employee must build and maintain community partnerships in order to help families obtain resources and educational supports. This position will serve as a coordinator for resources and educational supports for students who are identified under the McKinney Vento Act and students in Foster Care. Employee will maintain files, records, and state and federally-mandated reports related to McKinney Vento students. 
 
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 
 
A Bachelor’s degree in social work is required, with a Master’s degree preferred.  Must either have or be eligible for a North Carolina Department of Public Instruction License for School Social Worker. It is highly recommended for the applicant to demonstrate the ability to speak, understand, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

1. Work with school-based staff and social workers to identify and immediately enroll McKinney Vento students.
