Job Description:
Title: SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Reports to: Assigned administrator/supervisor
Job Objective: Provides services aligned with IEP goals to help students benefit from the educational program.
Minimum Qualifications: · Holds/maintains a valid Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board license and an Ohio Department Education Pupil Services license as a school speech-language pathologist.
· Acts according to the Professional Code of Ethics, Scope of Practices for Speech-Language Pathologists in Schools, and the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
· Embraces high-performance standards (e.g., engagement, proficiency, resilience, etc.).
· Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.
Preferred Attributes: Active listening, creative problem solving, and good time management skills.
Physical Demand Level1: Sedentary to medium strength (occasionally lifting/carrying 26+ lbs.). Duties require communicating verbally, far/near visual acuity, fine/gross manipulation, reaching at or below shoulder height, standing/walking, stooping, and using a traditional keyboard.

Essential Functions:
1. Designs and provides educationally relevant speech-language therapy services. Uses evidence-based practice to guide therapeutic interventions.
· Performs screening activities (e.g., designated grades, Child Find, new students, etc.).
· Performs follow-up activities with students who have not passed earlier screening procedures.
· Conducts evaluations for non-public school programs.
· Serves as a case manager for identified speech-only students. Prepares reports and related documents (e.g., prior written notice, district forms, EMIS coding sheet, etc.). Synthesizes input from all sources. Communicates evaluation results clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
· Interprets data, observations and norm/criterion-referenced test results to qualify students for speech-language services relevant to needs. Effectively manages the speech-language caseload (i.e., therapy schedules, parent/team meetings progress reports, etc.).
· Prepares and transmits legally compliant special education documents by required deadlines.
· Helps families and staff understand how the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and Specially Designed Instruction (SDIs) support educational goals and objectives.
· Uses a variety of evidence-based treatment techniques to address speech-language disorders (e.g., expressive/receptive language, voice, articulation, fluency, interactive communication, auditory and/or visual processing, pragmatics, etc.).
· Makes teachers aware of the unique speech-language needs of students. Helps staff incorporate therapy goals into classroom activities.
· Documents therapy progress. Monitors intervention efficacy. Implements modifications as needed.
· Helps students develop educational goals that are attainable, measurable, relevant, and specific.
· Participates in team meetings. Uses comprehensive assessments to obtain objective student data. Plans services relevant to needs. Supports student access to inclusive educational opportunities.
· Uses positive behavioral interventions and supports to maintain discipline. Helps students acquire appropriate functional skills (e.g., communication, self-regulation, socialization, etc.).
· Processes paperwork for services covered under the Medicaid School Program (MSP).
· Maintains effective document and records management systems. Prepares timely files. Monitors reporting deadlines. Complies with district records retention and disposal policies.

6. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
· Helps implement district strategies to advance organizational goals.
Performance Evaluation: Employee performance is evaluated according to applicable law, board policies, contractual agreements, and district administrative procedures.
