    Job Summary:

     

    Bogota Public Schools is seeking a dedicated School Social Worker to provide essential social-emotional and mental health support to students. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educators, families, and community agencies to remove barriers to learning, support students' well-being, and contribute to a positive school climate.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     
    • Provide individual and group counseling services to students addressing social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.

    • Conduct social history evaluations and functional behavioral assessments as part of Child Study Team evaluations.

    • Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.

    • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources to ensure students receive necessary support.

    • Support attendance initiatives and interventions to improve student engagement and reduce chronic absenteeism.

    • Assist in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and risk assessments for students experiencing significant challenges.

    • Develop and implement social-emotional learning (SEL) programs to foster a positive school climate.

    • Maintain accurate case records and documentation in compliance with NJDOE regulations and district policies.

    • Participate in Child Study Team meetings, IEP meetings, and parent conferences.

    • Conduct home visits when necessary to assess family needs and provide additional support.

    • Stay current with professional development related to mental health, special education laws, and best practices in school social work.

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.

    • Valid New Jersey School Social Worker Certification.

    • Experience working in a school or child-focused setting preferred.

    • Strong knowledge of intervention strategies, mental health supports, and trauma-informed care.

    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

    • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including students with disabilities.

     

    Work Environment:

     
    • School-based setting with occasional home visits or community outreach.

    • May require participation in after-school meetings, IEP conferences, or crisis response situations.

      FLSA Status: Exempt
