QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Evidence of completion of ten (10) college/university units in area of science or related area
3. Current Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate and/or criminal background clearance by Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation
4. Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematic readiness, as appropriate
5. Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials necessary to facilitate hands-on science activities
6. Demonstrated ability or willingness to work with children of diverse ethnic, racial, cultural, educational and economic backgrounds
7. Ability to work with groups of students in instructional environment
8. Ability to organize and implement variety of educational, recreational, playground, and science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) activities
9. Ability to follow oral and written directions
10. Interest in enhancing student school attendance, positive behavior and well-being


REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned
 
JOB GOAL: To assist in developing science based activities in order to help students gain appreciation and understanding of basic science principles.  To assist in implementation of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics instruction.
 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adheres to full implementation of program guidelines and procedures of the Extended Learning Program
2. Assists in developing and implementing science activities for participating students
3. Works with individual students and groups of students as needed
4. Works with parents and staff in promoting understanding of extended day program
5. Participates in inservice training as required
6. Assists in providing variety of activities related to physical fitness, fine arts, recreation, and prevention of unhealthful and inappropriate behavior
7. Assists in selection and maintenance of supplies, materials and equipment
8. Develops lesson plans related to instructional topics
9. Assists with physical education activities as needed
10. Assists in maintaining necessary records and files
11.  Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
12. Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability
13. Performs other related duties as assigned

SALARY:                    $20.03 - $32.55 per hour,  (10 month employees: Salary will be divided into 11 equal monthly checks)
                                 
 
EVALUATION:              Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District’s “Improvement of Professional Services” handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable
 
NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:
 
A new employee, or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification, shall serve a probationary period, which shall not exceed six (6) months of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences.  During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification.  A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause, without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education.  Pursuant to Education Code section 45113, a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position, shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.

2. Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate. 
3. Ability to follow oral and written directions. 
4. Knowledge of basic clerical procedures. 
5. Ability to learn library and/or computer skills. 
6. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in multiethnic environment. 
7. Bilingual ability may be required, depending on assignment.
 
REPORTS TO:  Administrator as assigned.
 
JOB GOAL:  To assist in providing well-organized, smoothly functioning school environment in which students benefit from instructional program.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists teachers, specialists, counselors and other staff in reinforcing instructional program and guiding students in development of desirable academic  and social skills and habits. 
2. Works with small groups of children under direction of member of certificated staff. 
3. Assists with checking, care, preparation and arrangement of instructional materials and equipment. 
4. Assists with yard duty, first aid and home contacts. 
5. Assists with recordkeeping, filing and other clerical duties as appropriate to program funding. 
6. May be assigned to assist in classroom, library, computer instruction, in-school suspension, and/or community contact activities. 
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
 SALARY:  $17.93 - $29.23 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:       

      1.   High school diploma or equivalent and passage of Kern High School District proficiency test

      3.   Passage of Education Signing Skills Evaluation for Interpreter (ESSE-I) at level 4 or above or other equivalent certification approved by California State Board of Education
      4.   Experience interpreting and translating for hearing impaired persons, preferably students, utilizing ASL (American Sign Language) or SEE (Signing Exact English)
      5.   Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents and community; ability to work collaboratively
      6.   Skill and accuracy in oral and written expression; ability to follow oral and written directions; desire to support students in educational environment
      7.   Valid driver’s license and personal car for use on district business
      8.   Bilingual ability may be required, depending on assignment
      9.   Must pass required tests

JOB GOAL:                  To provide support to students with severe hearing impairments in variety of classroom environments by performing interpreting, translating, and tutorial services so they can access the curriculum in academic areas, individualized life skills, social emotional supports and/or behavioral needs in order to benefit from their educational placement
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Assists in effective communication between students, staff and community by providing transliteration and interpretation services as needed
2. Translates, interprets and presents variety of instructional exercises and materials; translates instructional directions and class discussions to students
3. Tutors and interprets for individuals or small groups of students to reinforce instructional concepts
4. Accompanies and assists students in mainstreaming activities by performing interpreting and other duties to help ensure success in regular classroom
5. Assists special education teacher in implementing student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goals and accommodations
6. Reinforces, under supervision of special education teacher/staff, instruction introduced by student’s general and/or special education teacher(s)
7. Assists with checking, care, preparation and arrangement of instructional materials and equipment
8. Assists in implementing classroom management procedures and Individualized Behavior Intervention Plans
9. Assists with yard duty, first aid and physical education activities; assists in lifting, moving, and positioning students as necessary to render various forms of personal care, including but not limited to feeding, dressing, grooming, toileting, diapering, therapy and specialized health care procedures; assists students in use of wheelchairs, braces or orthopedic equipment; may be required to use mechanical equipment
10. Assists classroom teacher with handicapped children to and from buses, and in use of special equipment; fosters and encourages independence of all students
11. Monitors students to ensure safety and safety of others in all school environments, including but not limited to classroom, playground, cafeteria, bus, and parent pick up and drop off areas, any school related activities and locations
12. Maintains valid first aid and CPR certification
13. Maintains confidentiality of student records in accordance with District and legal requirements
