JOB SUMMARY:
Uses knowledge, education and experience to provide professional expertise to assess, plan, develop, and execute individual learning programs and experiences to help each student reach their full potential.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assesses students’ functional capabilities and/or classroom environment for the purpose of determining students’ functional level and developing recommendations and/or curriculum access.
- Assesses students' gross motor and development skills (e.g. perceptual-motor, motor coordination, sensorydevelopment, muscle strength, etc.) for determining their deficits and developing recommendations.
- Communicates with students, parents, teachers and/or other personnel for evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
- Coordinates with the IEP team to determine appropriate treatments and to meet the needs of specific students and attend IEP Team Meetings.
- Compiles evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment and identifies need for physical therapy services.
- Provides recommendations for student placement in their least restrictive environment.
- Screens students for determining the need for further individualized assessment.
- Prepare sequential and meaningful instruction geared to the student's assessed needs, as determined by the IEP team with goals and objectives.
- Arranges for and coordinates off-campus learning experiences for students, as appropriate, and when necessary, accompanies students engaged in off-campus activities.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence in self and other staff.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Administration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Valid Physical Therapy License from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
- Valid Physical Therapy License from the WI Department of Safety and Professional Services.
- Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience working as a Physical Therapist.
- Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Capable on a continuous basis of standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, twisting; repetitive movement of both hands and feet; seeing with both near and far visual acuity and to hear.
- Capable on a frequent basis of walking and moving, climbing stairs, lifting from floor to waist (up to #50), waist to shoulders (up to #25).
- Capable on an occasional basis of pushing; pulling; lifting from shoulders to overhead (up to #25).
