Full Time - 2024-25 school year

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Engagement Coach (Teacher on Special Assignment) will provide support to elementary schools by consulting with administration, teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel to develop intervention strategies, help problem solve and design student plans that strengthen relationships with young people, provide greater engagement in learning and provide a greater development of social-emotional competence with our students.

Duties:  Facilitate the implementation of interventions and strategies for students with staff.  Serve as a resource for teachers in managing student behavior. Work collaboratively with building administration. School-year position.

Minimum Qualifications:  School Social Worker License.
(Anoka-Hennepin will make every effort to hire teachers with full standard licenses in the assigned subject and grade level.)

Preferred Qualifications:  Advanced training in Social-Emotional Learning.

Full Time 

Develop, promote, and sustain chemical and mental health prevention and education services to students, families, and the school community, in collaboration with schools, county, and community agencies.

Duties:  Promote evidenced-based proactive strategies to support social and emotional needs of students.  Promote awareness of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention strategies, and alignment with co-existing mental health needs.  Facilitate group CBT/DBT groups at school sites. Support and/or facilitate return-to-school meetings post-treatment or post-suspension.  Train staff on community building circles, restorative chats, and repair of harm circles.  Design implementation plan for restorative practices and tiered interventions.  Demonstrate leadership in collaborating with a wide range of youth serving. organizations, school districts, local community organizations, and local government.  Engage community in larger prevention efforts such as identifying and organizing key stakeholders to address local prevention needs, and access to resources for school sites.  Family support around identifying and locating appropriate treatment options for high needs students - mental health and/or chemical health and other community resources.  Provide effective consultation with partners, particularly with district leadership, around policies and procedures.  Work with district leadership to identify proactive detection and precise interventions for individuals and groups at school sites.  Maintain records and enter timely, accurate data.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  Requires School Social Worker License and/or School Counselor License.  (Anoka-Hennepin will make every effort to hire teachers with full standard licenses in the assigned subject and grade level.) This position may be filled immediately by an appropriately licensed candidate (PELSB Tier 3 or Tier 4 license).
BA degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or related health or educational field. Experience with community outreach.  Strong relationship building skills.  Good written and verbal communication skills.  Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.  Experience working with at-risk youth or families with demonstrated cultural competency.  Ability to work closely with parents, staff, administration, and community.  Ability to provide services in multiple sites and communities.  Ability to travel regularly to multiple schools and community locations, along with working some evening time – requires flexible scheduling.  Ability to maintain regular attendance, including completing an assigned day.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.  Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.  Must be physically working in the building/on site.

Preferred Qualifications:   Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Graduate Social Worker (working towards clinical licensure). Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) or CPP certification preferred.  Knowledge or experience in Chemical Health is preferred.
