SUMMARY:  Responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the school library media center.  Manage and supervise a high functioning library space, as well as all technology associated with the library.  Provide students and staff with support for digital and print resources.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Responsible for transferring the Chromebooks into inventory ensuring they are received by the districts library management system (Destiny), that they  are  available and ready for checkout by the students, Chromebook distribution, may include the authorization, check out and labeling of the Chromebook and the Chromebook charger, assisting students that may be locked out, have forgotten or lost their Chromebook and/or charger resetting passwords, preparing any damaged Chromebooks to be sent out for repair  to the contracted repair service, may collaborate with the building tech person to troubleshoot problems that can be handled in building. Communicate with parents/guardians in regards to but not limited to lost or damaged Chromebooks or chargers, including how many devices the student has checked out.
2. Support for Instruction:  students and staff 
All patrons:  Operate the district library software system.  Circulate materials, place holds, process overdue materials, inter-library loans, communicate with students and parents, and maintain privacy and accuracy of patron records.  Provide programming support and/or leadership as needed for:  reading aloud to students, book fairs, author visits, library-related events, engaging displays of reading materials to create awareness of available print and digital resources and. training and supervision of student aides and volunteers.  Provide leadership and guidance so that all patrons learn to effectively: access and navigate the district library system.
Students:  Manage and assist students in the library space, in either small groups or whole classrooms, and have knowledge of the school discipline policy.
Teachers and staff:  Research and pull library’s print resources as requested.  Assist students and staff in accessing print and digital materials.  Engage with them in a way that helps them gain confidence in using the library resources and space.  May operate and maintain Bookroom.   
3. Managing the Space, Collection and Library Technology:  Manage library space and technology calendars for use of space/materials.  Manage library technology, resolving issues as they arise.  Perform clerical duties as needed.  Replace and/or remove materials that are old or obsolete. 
Library collection:  Copy catalog materials to the library collection.  Receive and process new print materials.  Shelve books.  Weed sections of the collection with the assistance of the District Library Services Coordinator.  Create a friendly, clean, collaborative learning environment in the library media center. Fill teacher and student materials requests as needed, conducting research as necessary.  Collaborate with teachers to assess resource needs, both print and digital, that support the curriculum, as needed.  Work with an approved vendor to organize previews of resources for teaching staff as needed.  Perform an annual library inventory with District resources as needed.  Create reports to reconcile lost and/or missing books. Contact parents/guardians regarding lost or overdue books.
4. Library Software and Digital Resources:  Set up policies, school calendar and rules in the district library software.  Link digital resources through the online catalog and library management software.  Run common and necessary reports.  Troubleshoot library management and software problems using AD12 support, library management software online and phone support.
5. Financial Management:  Make thoughtful decisions about waiving or reducing student/staff fines and document in LMS.  Work with the Office Manager to maintain accurate records.  Place, track and coordinate library and digital literacy purchases, including, but not limited to books, eBooks, and supplies for the library, as needed, with guidance from the Office Manager, Principal, and /or other appropriate staff.  Resolve discrepancies with vendors.  May create and submit financial reports with the Office Manager, as needed.  Communicate with vendors, staff members and principal for new book purchasing.
6. May plan, prepare and manage daily sales of the Book Fair. May promote Book fair to staff and students and coordinate volunteers.  Coordinate with third party vendor to ensure successful endeavor. May coordinate fundraising such as read-a-thons or similar activities.
7. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Associate’s degree or (2) years of college courses (48 hours or more) preferred.
• Minimum of (2) years of experience in a library, school, or office setting.
• Experience working with children required.
 
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-hire post-offer physical examination.

Financial Management:  Make thoughtful decisions about waiving or reducing student/staff fines and document in LMS.  Work with the Office Manager to maintain accurate records.  Place, track and coordinate library and digital literacy purchases, including, but not limited to books, eBooks, and supplies for the library, as needed, with guidance from the Office Manager, Principal, and /or other appropriate staff.  Resolve discrepancies with vendors.  May create and submit financial reports with the Office Manager, as needed.  Communicate with vendors, staff members and principal for new book purchasing.
6. May plan, prepare and manage daily sales of the Book Fair. May promote Book fair to staff and students and coordinate volunteers.  Coordinate with third party vendor to ensure successful endeavor. May coordinate fundraising such as read-a-thons or similar activities.
7. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Associate’s degree or (2) years of college courses (48 hours or more) preferred.
• Minimum of (2) years of experience in a library, school, or office setting.
• Experience working with children required.

1.    Perform financial duties, through the use of district information technology systems,  for the school including monitoring school budget(s) and reporting variances to supervisor; maintaining bookkeeping-related databases; purchasing including P-cards; receiving, inventorying and delivering incoming shipments; collecting and counting monies for fundraisers, fines, fees and other activities; enter IC fees and generate contracts as need; preparing and making bank deposits; creating and submitting reports to Financial Services; reimbursements; reconciling school accounts and bank statements; handling bookkeeping for parent/school organizations; tracking grant proposals; and processing monthly budget reports. 
2.    Provide administrative/secretarial support to Principal, administrators and school staff with electronically update shared meeting documents, newsletters, handbooks, coordinating meetings; maintaining and updating master calendar for the school year; coordinating building use with the Facilities Use Department; creating and maintaining filing systems; distributing mail; issuing and tracking building keys; updating website and other related duties.
3.    Greet, welcome and assist all staff, students, parents, community members, callers and visitors to the school.  Answer phones, provide information, take and deliver messages and direct callers to appropriate individual.  Assist visitors, answer inquiries, provide information and direct to appropriate school areas.  Diffuse conflicts and/or difficult situations as needed in the school office.  Monitor students sent to the school office for disciplinary reasons.
4.    Monitor building visitors, visitor sign-in procedures and building activities including crisis situations such as building evacuations, lockdowns, emergency situations and safety procedures.  May initiate crisis procedures in the administrator’s absence with direction from appropriate officials.
5.    Monitor and coordinate office workflow including training and planning, assigning and directing work of assigned office staff; assisting with scheduling paraeducators and substitutes in the building; and developing, updating, communicating and implementing office and workroom procedures.
