SUMMARY: Lead and support children in the BASE Program during educational and recreational activities and field trips.  Duties include providing direction, guidance and assistance to students; effectively handling student discipline situations; ensuring student safety and security; communicating with parents, staff, teachers and site director; opening, closing and securing school building; preparing snacks; cleaning classroom areas; recording attendance; assisting sick or injured students; assisting BASE Program site director with supervision of staff; and creating new activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 1. Supervise, support, guide and assist students during crafts, art projects, games and other activities to provide developmental stimulation and meet the children’s needs.  Create interesting, educational activities to engage the interest of students.  Monitor student behavior during activities, effectively handle student discipline situations and encourage and support positive behavior.  Record attendance and contact parents regarding absent students.
2. Observe the children and monitor the safety and security of the building at all times to ensure the children’s health and safety.  Distribute medicine to students as directed and provide general First Aid when needed. Maintain student to staff ratios. 
3. Assist BASE Program director with developing and supporting BASE Program site aides including mentoring, training, and completing paperwork, interviewing and hiring.  Supervise and maintain order of staff and students and communicate any issues to the site director. May be responsible for review, approval and verification of reported time using the district time and labor system. 
4. Communicate with parents, staff and teachers information regarding child and/or program.
5. Call parents to get authorization for an unauthorized adult to pick up the student from the program.  Check identification of adults picking up students
6. Open and close school building and secure school building at the end of the program by locking doors and turning off lights.
7. Prepare snacks and clean the activity, cafeteria and kitchen areas after use.
8. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in supervising and monitoring students.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be qualified based on the Department of Human Services regulations.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• CPR, First Aid and Universal Precautions Certifications are required within 90 days after entering position.  Will be required to take medication administration training as needed.
• Must complete current state required annual continuing education (presently 15 hours minimum) related to one or more of the following:  child growth and development, health and safe environment, developmentally appropriate practices, guidance, family relationships, cultural and individual diversity, and professionalism.

SUMMARY: Responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the elementary school administrative office.  Provide administrative assistance to the Principal, administrators, office and school staff and students by managing the school’s financial records and transactions through use of district information technology systems, answering/screening phone calls, preparing correspondence and other written communication, receiving and responding to inquiries and requests, coordinating meetings and events, supervising office staff, performing various personnel management functions, managing crisis situations, handling confidential information and other related duties.

1.    Perform financial duties, through the use of district information technology systems,  for the school including monitoring school budget(s) and reporting variances to supervisor; maintaining bookkeeping-related databases; purchasing including P-cards; receiving, inventorying and delivering incoming shipments; collecting and counting monies for fundraisers, fines, fees and other activities; enter IC fees and generate contracts as need; preparing and making bank deposits; creating and submitting reports to Financial Services; reimbursements; reconciling school accounts and bank statements; handling bookkeeping for parent/school organizations; tracking grant proposals; and processing monthly budget reports. 
2.    Provide administrative/secretarial support to Principal, administrators and school staff with electronically update shared meeting documents, newsletters, handbooks, coordinating meetings; maintaining and updating master calendar for the school year; coordinating building use with the Facilities Use Department; creating and maintaining filing systems; distributing mail; issuing and tracking building keys; updating website and other related duties.
3.    Greet, welcome and assist all staff, students, parents, community members, callers and visitors to the school.  Answer phones, provide information, take and deliver messages and direct callers to appropriate individual.  Assist visitors, answer inquiries, provide information and direct to appropriate school areas.  Diffuse conflicts and/or difficult situations as needed in the school office.  Monitor students sent to the school office for disciplinary reasons.
4.    Monitor building visitors, visitor sign-in procedures and building activities including crisis situations such as building evacuations, lockdowns, emergency situations and safety procedures.  May initiate crisis procedures in the administrator’s absence with direction from appropriate officials.
5.    Monitor and coordinate office workflow including training and planning, assigning and directing work of assigned office staff; assisting with scheduling paraeducators and substitutes in the building; and developing, updating, communicating and implementing office and workroom procedures.
6.    Perform personnel management functions, through use of district information technology systems, including review, approval and verification of reported time in district time and labor system.  Prepare and analyze time and labor reports and complete paperwork for payment of stipends and other pay; maintaining and updating all personnel changes, and scheduling interviews.  Monitor guest teacher requirements and assure coverage as needed.  May assist in the employee evaluation process.  Maintain confidentiality of all related data.
7.    Provide back-up coverage to other positions, as necessary.

SALARY INFORMATION (FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES):
All salary placement on our Certified Salary schedule is dependent on the employees’ education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district contractual teaching and/or work experience. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee. For further explanation of salary placement please refer to our Certified Master Agreement that can be found on our district website.
 
Internal Candidates Only:
13.2.5 Voluntary transfers that occur fifteen working days before the start of the school year and until the end of the school year shall happen once the position being vacated has been filled, for a duration of no more than four weeks. This four week time period could be adjusted in consultation with the educator, current and receiving supervisor and with approval from the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Association President.
