Position/Title: Special Education Paraprofessional - Level I Reports To: Classroom Teacher /Special Education Director Primary Function: The paraprofessional is a support staff position working under the supervision of the classroom teacher(s). The paraprofessional has some decision-making authority limited and regulated by board policy and state law. Qualifications: Qualifications: Meet one of the following requirements: 1. Hold an associate’s degree or higher in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution. 2. Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (sixty [60] semester hours) above the remedial level with a grade of “C” or better at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution. 3. Have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment and hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. *Applicants will be asked to provide a transcript or copy of the high school diploma for licensure. If attended college, a college transcript will be need for licensure instead of the high school diploma.
