QUALIFICATIONS
- Arizona Administrative Certification/Principal
- Masters Degree from accredited four-year college or university.
- Middle School and/or High School teaching experience, required.
- Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
Preferred Experiences: - Minimum 1 year contracted 7-12 grade administrative experience.
- High School level (grades 9-12) with enrollment of 2,000+;
- Student data management software; and
- Student Discipline and Attendance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Ability to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications, word processing, data management, and other assigned tasks as related to the position.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
- Ability to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
- Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.
MISSION:
The High School Assistant Principal is the person through whom the Principal exercises responsibilities to oversee student discipline and attendance policies and procedures to promote student responsibility and success.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist in the evaluation of certified/classified performance as designated by the Principal.
- Operate within the parameters of this position description as modified or augmented by the Principal.
- Ensure that the Principal is kept informed of all pertinent information directly related to duties and responsibilities.
- Responsible for relevant reports, coordination, compliance and supervision of school discipline and attendance procedures.
- Direct assigned subject areas, programs, and provide the necessary supervision to maintain quality and articulation in assigned zone.
- Assist teachers in preparing a course of study and planned lessons, and provide instructional supervision in assigned zone.
- Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of teachers and support staff members.
- Foster good school-community relations with the community and other institutions.
- Inform new staff of their duties and responsibilities for all students.
- Represent the Principal at professional, district and community meetings.
- Plan and supervise workshops/in-service activities, which may become appropriate and/or necessary.
- Assist the Principal in planning and executing the student registration process.
- Assist the Principal with supervision and planning of summer school.
- Coordinate building-level discipline review committee.
- Oversee Student Handbook production on an annual basis.
- Coordinate student recognition programs
- Perform other duties or special assignments as may be designated.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend as necessary. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor school building and ability to work outdoors during outdoor activities. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff and the public.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Assistant Principal reports to the Principal. The Assistant Principal has direct line supervisory relationship with teachers, counselors and classified personnel matters dealing with areas of responsibilities, as outlined. The Assistant Principal will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
