QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Minimum of one year experience in related area performing secretarial or general office work in an office with considerable public contact, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training that demonstrates desired knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
3. Working knowledge of computer word-processing and Microsoft Office applications, and Google. 
4. Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies. 
5. Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions
2. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in written form
3. Ability to type or keyboard, and possess working knowledge of standard office equipment.
4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
5. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
6. Ability to understand and maintain students’ and parents’ rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
7. Ability to use technology in the workplace.
8. Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.  
9. Ensure information obtained through duties associated with this position is held in the highest confidentiality.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Meet regularly with the Administrators in Curriculum to develop and prioritize work projects (District Library Media Specialist, Associate Director of Curriculum, and Instructional Technology Coordinator). 
2. Maintains a schedule of appointments, arranges conferences/interviews, travel arrangements and/or hotel accommodations, maintains appointment calendars and schedules, processes incoming correspondence and mail.
3. Takes and transcribes dictation of various types, including correspondence, reports, notices, recommendations, and may attend meetings in the role of recorder.
4. Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed and puts it into usable form.
5. Assists in a wide variety of confidential, administrative and secretarial support to the assigned District Office Administrators/Supervisors/Specialist.  Including but not limited to placing and receiving telephone calls, greeting customers and screening unexpected callers in accordance with a predetermined policy. 
6. Refers non-job specific inquiries to appropriate departments.
7. Maintains a regular filing system, and a set of locked confidential files, and maintains and processes incoming correspondence, documents and materials as instructed and for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties, handles leave requests, and sets up conferences and processes maintenance and purchase requisition orders.
8. Maintains documents, files, and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date accounting of departmental budgets and permanent employee records.
9. Composes complex documents (e.g., correspondence, reports, information brochures, presentations, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to school and district personnel, the public, state officials, etc.
10. Evaluates situations (e.g., involving other staff, students, parents, the public, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
11. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
1. Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 to 20 pounds, frequently.
2. Must be physically able to sit for extended periods; however, will involve walking and/or standing for brief periods as well.
3. Must be physically able to perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, and the manual dexterity to operate equipment necessary to fulfill the duties of this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times.   Will have contact with parents, students, staff and the public.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Curriculum Secretary (District Office) reports to the assigned District Office Administrator/Supervisors/Specialist.  The Curriculum Secretary (District Office) will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
            INITIAL WAGE PLACEMENT PLAN:  Starting at $14.85 Per Hour
            WORK YEAR:           12 Months / 8 hours per day

QUALIFICATIONS
 
1. Valid Arizona Administrative Certificate
2. Five years of administrative experience at the PreK-12 school level
3. Evidence of Administrative experience to include a deep understanding of the school system, proven commitment to improving student achievement and student belonging, demonstrated success in effectively engaging a team to raise student learning, and effective collaborative relationships skills with principals and district staff members
4. Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies

1. Advance leadership capacity and collective practices across the district utilizing the University of Virginia Partnership for Leaders in Education (UVA-PLE) research-based practices.
2. Participate as a core change team member in the PLE leadership implementation plan.
3. Ensure critical components of the PLE leadership initiative are conducted with fidelity.
4. Advance collective and continuous improvement leadership practices within the PLE initiative.
5. Coach, facilitate, and collaborate with principals to identify leadership strengths and specific areas to develop.
6. Participate in cross-organizational collaboration with district leadership and the core change team to strengthen systematic changes in school leadership.
7. Facilitate PLE site visits and coaching sessions.
8. Facilitate PLE district school leadership development sessions, professional development, and meetings.
9. Attend professional development sessions sponsored by UVA-PLE.
10. Regularly report to Cabinet on the progress of UVA-PLE district initiatives.
11. Serve as the secondary contact with UVA-PLE.
