QUALIFICATIONS
 
1. Arizona Administrative Certification/Principal
2. Masters Degree from accredited four-year college or university.
3. Middle School and/or High School teaching experience, required.
4. Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
Preferred Experiences:
• Minimum 1 year contracted 7-12 grade administrative experience.
• High School level (grades 9-12) with enrollment of 2,000+;
• Student data management software; and
• Student Discipline and Attendance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills.

MISSION:
The High School Assistant Principal is the person through whom the Principal exercises responsibilities to oversee student discipline and attendance policies and procedures to promote student responsibility and success.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in the evaluation of certified/classified performance as designated by the Principal.
2. Operate within the parameters of this position description as modified or augmented by the Principal.
3. Ensure that the Principal is kept informed of all pertinent information directly related to duties and responsibilities.
4. Responsible for relevant reports, coordination, compliance and supervision of school discipline and attendance procedures.
5. Direct assigned subject areas, programs, and provide the necessary supervision to maintain quality and articulation in assigned zone.
6. Assist teachers in preparing a course of study and planned lessons, and provide instructional supervision in assigned zone.
7. Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of teachers and support staff members.
8. Foster good school-community relations with the community and other institutions.
9. Inform new staff of their duties and responsibilities for all students.
10. Represent the Principal at professional, district and community meetings.
11. Plan and supervise workshops/in-service activities, which may become appropriate and/or necessary.
12. Assist the Principal in planning and executing the student registration process.
13. Assist the Principal with supervision and planning of summer school.
14. Coordinate building-level discipline review committee.
15. Oversee Student Handbook production on an annual basis.
16. Coordinate student recognition programs
17. Perform other duties or special assignments as may be designated.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend as necessary. The employee may lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.   

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor school building and ability to work outdoors during outdoor activities. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff and the public.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Assistant Principal reports to the Principal. The Assistant Principal has direct line supervisory relationship with teachers, counselors and classified personnel matters dealing with areas of responsibilities, as outlined. The Assistant Principal will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.

Each coach must work within the framework of the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) to provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of student athletes in their sport through coordinating, planning, evaluation, and implementation of programs. All coaches have the responsibility of carrying on their respective sport within the best interest of Sierra Vista Unified School District and its students within the bounds of the rules set forth by the AIA and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The coach must demonstrate and apply leadership, integrity, responsibility, self-control, and knowledge of rules and regulations at all times.  It is necessary and important that the coach act in a responsible and professional manner.  The coach must set a good example and provide a healthy lifestyle.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
2. Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
3. Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
4. Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
5. Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
The Assistant Coach reports to the Varsity Coach and the Assistant Principal of Athletics/Activities.  The Assistant Coach will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions.  All elements of good human relations will be practiced.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision of the classroom teacher, to assist the teacher in instructional tasks and in routine clerical record-keeping and in the overall guidance of student activities involving games, sports, arts and crafts, and various recreational programs and Library.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Completion of SVUSD volunteer application
2. Successful completion of a Universal Background Check or IVP fingerprint clearance card dependent on the Volunteer Tier - as described in application. More information will be provided to volunteer from Human Resources and related costs are incurred by SVUSD.   
Field Trips: If a parent is attending a field trip to participate with their student, and is not riding the bus or in charge of overseeing other students, then the parent does not need to complete a volunteer application . If a parent is riding the bus, overseeing/chaperoning/supervising other students, then the parent is considered a “volunteer” and will need to complete the volunteer application process - Tier 2 or Tier 3. Successful completion of a Universal Background Check, fingerprint clearance or IVP fingerprint clearance card dependent on the Volunteer Tier - as described in application. Cost incurred by SVUSD.   
 

FUNCTION: Volunteering is rewarding for everyone, whether participating in the school, classroom, playground, or on a field trip, volunteers enrich the educational experience for all SVUSD students.

The volunteer will assist the coach(s) in their respective sport. All athletics work within the framework of the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
