    JOB DESCRIPTION:

     

    Ideal candidates will be highly motivated educators who enjoy working with students of all abilities in a heterogeneous setting, have a strong knowledge base in the area of physical science, be able to effectively utilize an array of instructional strategies and interventions, and collaborate positively with students, parents, faculty, administration, and community partners.  Opportunities to teach additional science classes in the future is likely.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    1. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.  Reviews, updates, and develops curriculum on a regular basis.

     
    1. Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

     
    1. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in harmony with the goals – establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.

     
    1. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

     
    1. Uses a variety of assessment strategies to demonstrate student attainment of competencies. 

     
    1. Maintains open communications with students, faculty and staff members, parents, community agencies and other relevant organizations.

     
    1. Counsels with colleagues on a regular basis.

     
    1. Assists the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and/or rules governing student life and conduct.  Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

     
    1. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

     
    1. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

     
    1. Performs all other assignments that may be made by the Principal or Designee.
