St. James Middle/High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative School Social Worker to support students in grades 6-12 through individual and small-group interventions, whole-class lessons, and case management for 504 plans. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in CASEL competencies, Response to Intervention (RTI), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and evidence-based interventions to help students develop the social, emotional, and behavioral skills necessary for success.
This position requires close collaboration with the Dean of Students, student support team, teachers, and families to address student needs proactively. The social worker will also attend and contribute to student support meetings, provide crisis intervention, assist with attendance concerns, and connect students and families with community resources.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and small-group support for students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
Co-plan and deliver whole-class social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons in collaboration with teachers.
Support the implementation of CASEL-aligned SEL frameworks, RTI, and MTSS to improve student outcomes.
Serve as the 504 case manager, ensuring compliance with accommodations and coordinating meetings with students, families, and staff.
Work closely with the Dean of Students and student support team, regularly attending student support meetings.
Provide crisis intervention and immediate support for students experiencing acute distress.
Collaborate with the Dean of Students and teachers to identify and address attendance concerns, working with students and families to remove barriers to engagement.
Conduct family and community outreach, connecting students and caregivers with external resources such as mental health services, food programs, and housing support.
Collect and analyze data on student progress, interventions, and outcomes to inform decision-making.
Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with school and district policies.
Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota School Social Worker license required.
Experience with CASEL, RTI, MTSS, and evidence-based interventions preferred.
Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and student support teams.
Experience in crisis intervention, trauma-informed practices, and restorative approaches is highly desirable.
Knowledge of 504 case management and student accommodations.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families.
