Hastings Community Education is seeking highly qualified candidates to serve as middle school girls flag football coaches for our inaugural season.
 
Candidates are desired to have successful coaching experiences, and/or related successful experiences in educational leadership.  Training is available.  Candidates should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the commitment to develop and maintain positive relationships between the program and the local community.  
 
This position reports to the Hastings Community Education Youth Services Coordinator and Athletic Director, who provide overall job objectives and observe performance.  This coach will advise, coordinate, and support the athletic personnel for girls flag football according to expectations of the Hastings Community Education Youth Services Coordinator and Athletic Director.

This coach is expected to coordinate the instruction, training, and development of all athletes with other coaches at this level in the sport; model a transformational, purpose-driven philosophy; represent a holistic definition of success; commit to personal development and collaboration; display a values-based approach as a coach who develops people first, and then the athlete; coach the athlete first, and then the skill; coach for the student-athletes before themselves; make a lasting, positive impact on the school community; have meaningful, rewarding personal coaching experiences.
 
Season begins April 2, 2025 running Mondays and Wednesdays after school.  
 
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS:  $34 per hour.  This position does not qualify for benefits as it is a non-contracted position.

General Information

Substitute for Kids Campus staff members. Hours will depend on staffing needs. Hours are flexible, as coordinator will work with substitute’s availability and desired schedule.  

Children participate in a variety of academic enrichment, recreational and cultural activities that informally support learning and social development. Life and social skills, such as cooperation, teamwork, and problem solving are fostered in a caring and accepting environment. 

Reporting Relationships

Works directly under the general supervision of the School Age Care Coordinator; work direction provided by Site Leads.


Responsibilities

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the duties below.
• Independently implement appropriate enrichment and recreational activities planned by Site Leads for a group of up to 15 children and/or jointly responsible for leading larger groups in cooperation with other staff.
• Provide appropriate behavior guidance and disciplinary action as needed.
• Develop supportive relationships with Camp Horizon's participants and families.
• Build community and establish a welcoming, engaging, respectful, cooperative environment.
• Teach and model social skills, personal responsibility, problem solving, respect, and related skills.
• Carry out appropriate health and safety procedures.
• Must participate with children in active indoor and outdoor recreational activities including swimming and walking.
• Implement and actively support the policies, procedures, and goals of the District and Camp Horizon.
• Maintain a clean, attractive environment in programming areas.
• Practice effective teamwork; work cooperatively and collaboratively with co-workers and school staff.
• Report to work on time and complete assigned hours. 
• Attend all required staff development sessions and staff meetings.
• Follow child accountability and supervision of children procedures.
• Provide accommodations for children with special needs and modify activities as needed to ensure respectful inclusion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Beginning knowledge of child development.

• Ability to ride a school bus to accompany children on field trips. 
• Ability to walk two miles on uneven terrain, lift 20 pounds, and accompany children in the water on swimming field trips.

• Ability to work effectively with children and their parents/guardians who represent a wide range of social, economic, racial, and ethnic groups and level of ability.

Kids’ Campus Assistant Staff
 

Location: District Wide
 
 Hours: School year hours are before and after school depending on site. There are also varying hours on non-school days and occasional staff meetings as needed.  Hours will average out to 4-6 hours per day, 5 days a week. 
 

Starting wage:  $15.30 for non contracted staff (Under 10.5 hours per week) 
                           Starting at $18.25 /hour for contracted staff (Min 10.5 hours per week)

School Age Care Lead 

Under the direction of the SAC Program Coordinator, the Program Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring the daily activities of staff and children in the before and after school program for children 5-12 yrs. to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment. This is a year-round position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans and implements daily activities and plans that are fun and educational. Activities include subject areas in art, music, drama, cooking, math and science.
     a) Interacts with children and assists in supervising activities. Monitors children activities in room, gym and playground.
     b) Takes attendance and maintains student records.
     c) Provides and leads a variety of enrichment and recreational choices and activities.
     d) Models and teaches appropriate behaviors.
     e) Monitors and provides for a safe and secure environment for the children.

• Coordinates, organizes, monitors and leads program staff and students to conduct daily activities of the program.
    a) Monitors, assigns and coordinates staff activities and functions.
    b) Provides on-site training and orientation to new staff.
    c) Provides input and feedback to Coordinator concerning staff performance issues and concerns.
    d) Provides assistance to staff and students in daily concerns, problems and/or issues.

• Completes, updates and maintains site records, files, activity logs, and attendance sheets.

• Communicates with building staff, nursing staff, parents or the program coordinator concerning student issues, and scheduled events.
    a) Assists in writing newsletters to inform parents of activities, problems and issues.
    b) Meets with parents to communicate and inform them regarding behaviors and observations.

• Administers appropriate medications to children as prescribed and consistent with program guidelines. • Assists staff in the set up, cleaning and tear down of the program site.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of one year directly related work experience in working with school aged children
• First Aid/CPR Certified

• Knowledge of practices, techniques, and fundamentals of school aged child care programming and services.
• Fundamentals of work coordination and delegation.
• Fundamentals of child development
