The Drama Guild director plays a pivotal role in fostering students’ creativity and managing theatrical productions.
Responsibilities:
· In communication with GVHS Principal and Director of Student Activities, select production staff and shows.
· Plan, direct, and produce the fall play and spring musical selecting scripts that align with school policies and community standards.
· Coordinate auditions, rehearsals, and performances.
· Schedule performances and secure necessary permissions/licenses.
· Interview potential production staff and make hiring decisions with GVHS Principal
· Teach acting, stagecraft, and production techniques.
· Mentor students in various roles including acting, directing, and technical support.
· Lead audition workshops and character development workshops.
· Meet regularly with Production staff members (Tech, Music, Dance, Pit) & crew heads (Stage Manage, Costumes, Makeup, Props) to communicate the "vision" of a show and address production needs.
· Oversee set design, lighting, sound, costumes, and props ensuring proper use and maintenance of theater equipment.
· Collaborate with school staff, parents, and volunteers to support productions.
· Manage the drama program’s budget and organize fundraising events to support productions.
· Meet regularly with Drama Guild student leaders.
· Select student Drama Guild award recipients.
· Ensure a safe environment for students during rehearsals and performances.
