Primary Purpose:
Serve as special education case manager to develop and oversee the implementation of a students’ IEPs; Collect and analyze multiple sources of data to provide input on student progress regarding the general curriculum; Monitor each student on the caseload for adherence to attendance and disciplinary policies. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district policies or procedures; Provide Specially-Designed Instruction, using research-based methodologies, to assist with student progress on IEP’s.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual
• Knowledge of developing the Individual Education Plan (IEP) including the goal setting process and implementation
• Knowledge of disability categories, and ability to develop Specially-Designed Instruction to address individualized needs
• Expertise in differentiated instructional strategies, to include academic and behavioral strategies
• Ability to analyze data in order to recommend instructional practices Ability to manage personnel, when necessary
• Superior organizational, time management, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
• Superior problem-solving skills
 
Experience:
Experience with students with disabilities is preferred.
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
1. Work with the ARD committee and other support staff in developing the.
2. Implement and monitor with fidelity the adopted IEP or intervention programs and curricula.
3. Develop and implement data collection systems to monitor student IEP goal progress.
4. Be a positive role model for students and staff to promote healthy and respectful behavior and social interactions in education.
5. Comply with all Special Education Case Manager responsibilities, Special Education Department procedures, and campus/District procedures.
6. Attend all required meetings, i.e. ARD meetings, special education department meetings, staffings, faculty meetings, PLC’s, etc...
7. Prepare lessons and lesson plans as required.
8. Complete personal care services for students as needed (e.g. feeding, grooming, diapering, transitioning, etc)
 
Classroom Management and Organization
9. Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the global development of students using the principles of PBIS and evidence-based educational techniques.
 
10. Manage student behavior and implement behavior intervention plans. This includes intervening in crisis situations and physically restraining students as needed to maintain safe and healthy learning environments.
11. Consult with general education classroom teachers regarding student academic performance and student behavior according to the IEP.
12. Consult district and outside resource personnel regarding education, social, emotional, and personal needs of students.
 
Communication
13. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
14. Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assignments as needed.
15. Collaborate with campus and other support staff to develop interventions and supports for students and their instructional teams.
16. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers, and related service providers.
17. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
18. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
19. Collaborate with the general education teacher(s) to ensure that special education students are receiving the services outlined in their IEP’s, and that students are making progress in the general education curriculum. This shall be on an individualized basis regarding student IEP’s.
20. Report progress to the parent(s)/guardian(s) as outlined in student IEP’s.

21. Participate in staff development activities and other assigned duties to improve job-related skills.
22. Regularly consult with district-wide behavior support staff and service providers about evidence-based and best practices.
23. Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies.
24. Model, uphold, and maintain ethical and legal requirements pertaining to confidentiality, individual rights, and the dignity and autonomy of students with disabilities and their families.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct the work of the instructional aides.
 
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain professionalism and emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing and walking. Move and lift textbooks, media equipment, desks, adaptive and other classroom equipment. May require regular heavy lifting and positioning of students with physical disabilities or to control behavior through physical restraint. May work prolonged or irregular hours; must have the ability to travel throughout the district when needed.

Primary Purpose:
Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, or language
disorders. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or
impairments that interfere with their students’ ability to derive full benefit from the educational program.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
• Master’ s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech
• Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions
• Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions
• Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At minimum clinical experience in Speech/Language Pathology throught Master's program

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Therapy
• Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services.
• Assessment
• Conduct independent evaluations to assess students with speech or language disorders and conditions to determine eligibility for services.
• Develop clinical management strategies or procedures and diagnostic statements by interpreting observations or data.
• Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders or conditions according to district procedures.
Consultation
• Counsel and involve parents in remedial process.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students.
• Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and understand communication deficits in students.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the student.
Student Management
• Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students.
• Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Program Management
• May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistant(s) or speech aide(s).*
• Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of speech-language pathology services and make changes based on the findings.
• Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.
Administration
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
• Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
• Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
• Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
