Qualifications:
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Curriculum, Literacy or Mathematics Endorsement
• Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in content area/assignment
• Minimum 2 years of successful teaching experience preferred or relevant coursework within the last 3 years
• Experience as an Instructional Coach or Leadership role preferred
• Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate knowledge of Common Core & other content standards
• Performs research-based instructional practices related to instructional strategies, conditions of learning, educational equity, assessment & data informed instruction
• Effectively communicate and collaborate to build an environment with a common instructional focus that promotes initiatives and conveys expectations
• Design and deliver quality professional development for teachers and administrators
• Use outstanding presentation and facilitation skills to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
• Provide knowledge and expertise in equity and culturally responsive teaching practices
• Coach staff on improving instruction and student achievement while being responsive to students and staff needs
• Build trusting relationships with staff that cultivates a spirit of inquiry and innovation that fosters collaboration, reflection and provides feedback
• Support teachers in the implementation of the District’s vision, mission and strategic plan
• Champion the District’s different curricular based goals, initiatives and approaches to teaching and learning
• Maintain current knowledge of standards-aligned instructional strategies, assessment strategies, and issues in core curricular areas through active research of relevant topics in education and the pursuit of professional learning opportunities outside of the district
• Participate in the District Instructional Coach team and be present at weekly meetings to research, learn, plan and discuss instructional needs and opportunities related to the district goals
• Serve as a primary member of the MTSS team and prepare data summaries for data review meetings
• Oversee and monitor progress of instructional goals established by teams
• Meet, communicate and collaborate regularly with district-level and building-level administrators and teachers to share grade level/department specific information and updates on implementation progress and goals
• Provide leadership, professional learning and support to District RSD teams by presenting information, facilitating discussions, gathering feedback and analyzing data
• Attend and present at conferences, meetings and workshops that support the role of coaching and the goals of the District
• Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and/or Principal

Responsibilities:
• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
• Communicates with teachers and other district personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
• Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g. reading, math, language comprehension, writing, computer, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Maintains classroom equipment and work area for the purpose of ensuring availability of a safe learning environment and/or meeting mandated requirements.
• Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, assemblies, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Promotes good study habits and student independence for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.
• Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. self esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of student deficiencies and ensuring student’s success.
• Documents student’s daily activities (e.g. behavior, completed assignments, on/off task times, etc.) for the purpose of completing daily logs and student’s hourly activities.
• Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, behavioral plans designed by IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Models conversation, manners, clean up activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.
• Monitors student’s daily schedule and behavior plan (e.g. class schedule, toileting, medication, appetite, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured students, arguments, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the assigned workday
• Participates in team planning as requested
• Maintains substitute folder with information essential for successful substitute assignment
• Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the Building Administrator/supervising teacher

Summary/Objective: 
The primary goal of the Special Education Teacher in the Pathways Program is to support students with an emotional disability or those with a similar profile experiencing social and/or emotional challenges that impact their success in the general education setting.
 

Program: 
The Pathways Program provides comprehensive therapeutic and educational support for students experiencing social and/or emotional challenges that impact their success in the general education setting. The program offers specialized academic instruction within a structured special education environment while fostering opportunities for inclusion. It emphasizes consistency, accountability, and behavioral responsibility, helping students develop the skills needed for success. Additionally, the program integrates social work services to support students’ emotional growth and social development.


Qualifications:             
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement
• Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in content area/assignment
• Minimum 2 years of successful teaching experience preferred or relevant coursework within the last 3 years
• Knowledge and experience with Google suite
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities:

Instruction and Classroom Management:
• Develop and deliver specialized instructional programs tailored to meet the academic and functional needs of each student
• Implement a structured and consistent classroom management plan, using positive behavior supports and individualized reinforcement strategies
• Adapt curriculum materials to accommodate various learning styles, communication needs, and developmental levels
IEP Development and Compliance:
• Collaborate with parents, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams to develop, update, and review IEPs in alignment with Illinois state regulations
• Document and monitor student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instructional approaches based on data and student growth
• Ensure compliance with IDEA and other state and federal guidelines related to special education
• Serve as student advocate and case manager
Behavioral and Social-Emotional Support:
• Use behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized social-emotional support strategies to address behavioral challenges and foster social skills development.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student independence, confidence, and respect for others
Collaboration and Integration:
• Work closely with general education teachers to integrate students from the self-contained classroom into general education activities where appropriate
• Provide strategies, support, and accommodations to general education teachers to facilitate student success in inclusive settings
• Act as a liaison to ensure that each student’s unique needs are met while participating in the general education classroom
