Maintenance Mechanic (Plumber)


Qualifications:
1. Applicant shall have four (4) years of working experience in repair and installation plumbing systems and equipment preferred.
2. Applicant must possess a Journeyman or Master’s License for the City of Allentown.
3. Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of the repair and installation of all types of plumbing systems and equipment.
4. Applicant must have a knowledge of and ability to use all types of hand and power tools relative to the plumbing trade.
5. Applicant must be capable of coordination repairs or installing systems with other trades.
6. Applicant must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
7. Alternatives to the above, which the School Board of Directors may deem acceptable.

Performance:
1. Perform preventative maintenance to plumbing systems and recognizes present and potential problems, which may cause plumbing systems to malfunction. 
2. Perform plumbing repairs and installation to render a first class finish job. 
3. Secure the proper materials to install/repair pipe work and equipment to provide a safe condition and first-class workmanship. 
4. Assumes the responsibility of determining the material required for first-class repairs or installation and reports the same to the Director of Facilities Services or his/her Assistants.
5. Responsible for clean up during and after work is completed.
6. Take all neccessary measures to provide safety to others and property.
7. Maintain all School District tools and equipment in first class condition.
8. Work closely with the Director of Facilities Services or his/her Assistants to determine the needs of the District's plumbing systems. 
9. Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Facilities Services or his/her Assistants.

Maintenance (Electrician)

                                     
Qualifications:
1. Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of the repair/installation of all types of electrical systems and electrically powered equipment including, but not limited to, overhead and underground service and service entrance, new construction rough-in, distribution panels, motor controls, switching systems, transformers, lighting systems, emergency systems, stage lighting, scoreboards, etc.
2. Applicant must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
3. Applicant must possess a Master Electrician’s license for the City of Allentown.
4. Alternatives to the above, which the School Board may deem acceptable
Performance:
1. Performs preventive maintenance to electrical systems and recognizes present and/or potential problems which may cause electrical systems to malfunction.
2. Performs preventive maintenance/repairs to electrically operated equipment used by District personnel and returns said equipment to use in a timely manner to minimize down time.
3. Assumes the responsibility of determining the material required for first class repairs/installation of electrical systems and reports same to Facilities Services Department supervisors.
4. Secures needed material and performs all installations/repairs to electrical systems in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer’s instructions to render a first class finished product.
5. Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, staff, and the general public from harm when making repairs to electrical systems or operating School District equipment and leaves all work areas clean, neat, and free of debris.
6. Evaluates new products, equipment and techniques as they relate to electrical service and reports same to Facilities Services Department supervisors.
7. Provides guidance and instructions to School District personnel on proper procedures for the operation of electrical systems and equipment in their assigned buildings.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities Services or his/her Assistant.

1. Applicant shall have three (3) years of working experience in the repair, maintenance, and installation of Commercial HVAC Equipment (10+ tons) and refrigeration systems.
2. Applicant must have or be able to obtain air conditioning/refrigeration Type I and II certification.
3. Applicant must have knowledge of, and the ability to use, all types of hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment relative to the refrigeration/ air conditioning trade.
4. Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of the repair and installation of all types of HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment.
5. Applicants with knowledge and experience operating Building Automation Controls systems.
6.  Applicant must be capable of coordinating repairs or installing systems with other trades.

General Duties
1. Collect and dispose of all trash and is responsible for the proper separation and disposal of all recycling
2. Clean, sanitize, and restock washrooms, restrooms, kitchens, cafeterias, and water fountains.
3. Daily cleaning, sweeping, dusting, wet mopping, vacuuming of all walls, floors, windows, furniture both inside and outside the facility.
4. General maintenance and cleanup of all grounds, including grass and weed cutting and snow removal.
5. Must be able to work at any School District building.
6. Must be able to work no more than 29 hours per week, either 1^st shift or 2^nd shift. 
7. Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Head Custodian, building Principal, or immediate Supervisor.

Maintenance Mechanic (Boiler)


Qualifications:
• Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of the repair and installation of commercial oil burner systems, including Industrial Combustion, Gordon Piatt, Carlin and Superior Combustion burners, H. B. Smith, Weil McLain and other make steam/hot water boilers. (Three years field experience preferred).
• Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of system traps, pneumatic controls, air compressors, unit ventilators, air handlers and thermostats and be able to diagnose and repair malfunctions of same.
• Applicant must possess a strong knowledge of commercial gas/oil burner electrical circuits and be able to obtain any license that may be required by local code enforcement agencies.
• Applicant must be capable of soldering, threading, repair and installing copper/steel piping systems.
• Applicant must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Alternatives to the above, which the School Board may deem acceptable

Performance:
• Performs preventive maintenance to heating systems and recognizes present and/or potential problems which may cause heating systems to malfunction.
•  Assumes the responsibility of determining the material required for first class repairs or installation of heating systems and reports same to Facilities Services Department supervisors.
• Secures needed material and performs all installations/repairs to heating systems in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer’s instructions to render a first class finished product 
• Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, staff, and the general public from harm when making repairs to heating systems or operating School District equipment, and leaves all work areas clean, neat, and free of debris.
• Evaluates new products, equipment, and techniques in the heating industry and reports same to Facilities Services Department supervisors.
•  Provides guidance and instructions to School District personnel on proper procedures for the operation of heating systems in their assigned buildings.
•  Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities Services or his/her Assistant.
