POSITION SUMMARY 
This position is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and strategic direction for all Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. This role involves overseeing program development, staff supervision, budget management, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The ATEC Director will collaborate with school administrators, business and industry partners, and post-secondary institutions to enhance career pathways and provide students with meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Leadership and Development:
1. Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of CTE programs to ensure they align with industry standards, workforce needs, and educational best practices.
2. Develop and promote career pathways that lead to industry certifications, post-secondary education, and employment opportunities.
3. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and advisory committees to continuously improve program quality and relevance.
4. Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and industry demands to keep programs relevant and effective.
5. Oversee curriculum development and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal CTE regulations.
6. Collaborate with curriculum specialists to integrate academic content with technical skills, fostering cross-disciplinary learning.
7. Promote the integration of academic and technical skills to prepare students for postsecondary education, certification, and employment.

Student Support and Career Development:
8. Collaborate with counselors and teachers to support students' career exploration, planning, and post-secondary transitions.
9. Promote student participation in CTE programs by developing recruitment strategies and marketing initiatives.
10. Support student organizations (e.g., SkillsUSA, FFA, FBLA) by encouraging participation and providing guidance.
11. Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to provide students with internships, apprenticeships, and job-shadowing opportunities.
12. Work with post-secondary institutions to establish dual credit, articulation agreements, and other advanced learning opportunities.

Staff Supervision and Professional Development:
13. Recruit, hire, and evaluate CTE instructors and support staff.
14. Provide leadership and support for staff professional development, including training on current industry practices and instructional strategies.
15. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Equipment Acquisition and Disposal:
16. Oversee the procurement of equipment, tools, and technology to ensure students have access to industry-relevant resources.
17. Develop and manage an equipment inventory system to track usage, condition, and lifespan.
18. Ensure the regular maintenance, repair, and calibration of CTE equipment.
19. Supervise the disposal of outdated or unusable equipment in accordance with district policies and industry regulations.
20. Seek grant funding or industry partnerships to support equipment acquisition and upgrades.

Budget and Resource Management:
21. Develop and manage the CTE Center budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
22. Manage CTE program budgets, including grant funds, and ensure effective use of resources.
23. Identify and pursue grants, partnerships, and funding opportunities to support program growth.
24. Ensure compliance with financial guidelines and reporting requirements.

Partnerships and Community Engagement:
25. Serve as a liaison between the school district and external organizations to promote CTE programs and advocate for resources.
26. Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, industry partners, and higher education institutions.
27. Collaborate with advisory boards to align programs with workforce needs.
28. Promote CTE programs through outreach events, school communications, and partnerships with industry representatives.

Compliance and Reporting:
29. Ensure all CTE programs comply with district policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
30. Prepare and submit reports related to program performance, funding, and student outcomes.
31. Monitor and report on program performance, including enrollment data, student outcomes, and post-graduation success.
32. Analyze program data to identify areas for improvement and growth.

4. Recruit student athletes who can achieve academic and athletic success
5. Assist student athletes in realizing individual and team goals.

8. Provides ongoing oversite of student athlete’s conduct both on and off the court.

This position requires constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, dialing, grasping, keyboarding, repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.  Walking, sitting, scheduling and talking are constantly required.    A valid South Dakota driver’s license and the ability to drive a car.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
• Assist and work with students at all scheduled practices from October-May. This includes, debate, student congress seasons and national tournament prep. During debate season, practice will run Monday - Thursday with competitions on Friday and Saturdays.  This includes working with I.E.’s, and/or policy and/or L-D Debate and/or public forum, whether working on files, cases, briefs, or running practice rounds.
• Attend and coach/judge all events as assigned.
• Assist with set-up, tabbing, hospitality, lunch stand, handing out awards etc. at all Central High School speech and debate events.
• Chaperone and supervise students when traveling to and from tournaments, during tournaments, and upon returning from tournaments until students are released to parent or legal guardian.
• Enforce all policies and procedures as stated in the student handbook, coach handbook, and forensic policy statements.
• Notify the Administration of any difficulties and/or concerns regarding students.
• Assist with registration, code assignments, room assignments, roll call and other tournament procedures as necessary.
• Supervise loading and unloading of vehicles; check that vehicles have been properly cleaned.
• Assist with tournament by tournament record keeping.
• Dress professionally at all times at tournaments (no blue jeans or faded/washed out jeans of any color).
• Drive the team van, when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by head speech and debate coach.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

5. Monitor student progress during therapy sessions, documenting observations and reporting changes to the physical therapist.
6. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to discuss student needs, therapy goals, and classroom accommodations.

POSITION SUMMARY 
A Special Education (SPED) School Counselor is a professional who provides individual and group counseling services to students with special needs, focusing on addressing their unique social, emotional, and academic challenges, collaborating closely with special education teachers and other team members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), complete functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and behavior intervention plans (BIP) while advocating for the student’s needs within the school environment.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Implement the approved district SPED counseling program to assigned students.
2. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.

16. Consult with teachers, staff, parents and other significant people in the student’s life.
17. Meet with assigned students to provide counseling related to school-based issues, skill building needs, and other personal issues that may impact the student's perceived stress or ability to succeed.
18. Work with the team to determine counseling needs that may lie beyond the scope of the school counseling program and to assist the parents in locating counselors in the community.
19. Help students problem solve and process emotional crises that may arise throughout the day.  Develop a positive relationship with students so that they view the counselor as a resource in this area.
20. Work with the IEP and classroom team to plan effective psychoeducational interventions to help the students succeed in life and at school.
21. Work with the classroom teacher to see that risk situations are reported to administration and risk evaluators so that appropriate interventions are enacted, and the student is supervised until an environment of safety is established.
22. Will conduct risk assessments if counselor is a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
23. Provide social skills and processing groups to students as part of the classroom designed plan for specific groups of students.
24. Be a clinical resource to the teachers on effective interventions with students and provide on the spot consultation around effective ways to interact with students. 
25. Work with the clinical consultant and classroom teacher to provide a program of effective in-service.
26. Assist students at the high school in identifying career interests and connect to resources that may aid them in obtaining career goals.
27. Provide educational programs to parents to assist them in building effective skills.
28. Assist parents and students in making positive contacts with community resources that may provide support, enrichment, and treatment for the student.
29. Explore and keep aware of community resources that may assist students and parents succeeding in their roles.
30. Facilitate meetings for the purpose of discussing individualized FBAs, BIPs, and student-specific plans.
31. Adhere to all district policies, handbooks, and regulations.
32. Support the philosophy and mission of the Aberdeen School District.

The job of Indian Education Tutor - General Instructional tutoring is done for the purpose/s of supervision and instruction of individual and/or small groups of students in grades K-12; and providing instructional and clerical support to the Indian Education Department.  This job reports to Indian Education Coordinator

Essential Functions:
1. Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
2. Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. read stories, listen to students read, providing writing assistance, reinforce English lessons, provide spelling practice, facilitate activities, computer learning programs, etc.) for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching their academic goals and grade level standards.
3. Implements instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the Indian Education Program in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
4. Maintains work area, student files/records (e.g. adapting instructional materials, maintaining organized work area, taking attendance, checking homework, grading papers, lunch counts, emergency cards, audio visual equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.
5. Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, library, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school rules and procedures and/or providing a safe and positive learning environment.
6. Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. copying, collect/distribute supplies, make displays/bulletin boards/phone calls, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the Indian Education Program and/or providing necessary records/materials.
7. Promotes good habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcome and encouraging student development.
