Summary:
The Food Service Associate will cook, serve, and clean-up in assigned area. S/he will perform other related duties which are necessary for the efficient operation of the food service program.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve menu items as planned. Records temperature of food and completes production needs.
- Serves food items to customers from serving lines in accordance with specific instruction ensuring appropriate portions are served.
- Must wash pots and pans and clean-up all working areas of kitchen, including floors, hoods, walls, and serving carts.
- Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate to the area of operations.
- Attends day to day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies, detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies, etc.
- Replenishes foods, silverware, dishes, trays, etc. at serving stations; may order products.
- May provide guidance and training to other employees performing related work.
- Attend assigned training mandated by the Michigan Department of Education.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required.
- Must enjoy working with children.
- Must be positive, pleasant, neat, clean and able to work well with others.
- No prior institutional experience is necessary, although some food preparation experience is helpful.
- Must have computer knowledge and be able to scan student’s ID cards or run point of sale computer.
- Must be able to read and mathematically adjust numbers or recipes.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to follow state, federal and health department regulations.
- Must be able to perform a variety of tasks and accept direction.
- Must be Serve-Safe certified, or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday
9 AM - 2 PM (hours may vary with lunch times)

Compensation:
Level II-Range is $14.89 - $16.73
