The Wirt County Board of Education announces the following vacancy:
 
                                                           Substitute Bus Drivers
Works a.m. and p.m. shift, hours dictated by route.
 
Reports To:  Transportation Supervisor; Evaluated by Transportation Director
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1. Becomes thoroughly familiar with the contents of the West Virginia Transportation Regulations for school bus operators.
2. Posts in the bus a copy of the Regulations for Pupils Transported in School Buses and a copy of the bus schedule.
3. Performs pre-trip inspections daily.
4. Prepares and keeps a list of students riding the bus.
5. Discharges students only at designated stops unless permission is granted by the principal or a note of permission from the parent or guardian.
6. Allows students who are not assigned to his/her bus to board only if permission has been granted by the principal or by a note of request from the parent or guardian.
7. Runs on a regular schedule and reports to the principal or supervisor any reasons for delay.
8. Maintains professional appearance
9. Leaves school only after checking that all children are loaded.
10. Cleans thoroughly inside and outside of bus as directed by the transportation supervisor.
11. Does not allow students to extend any part of their body out of the bus windows.
12. Practices emergency unloading procedures at least twice per year.
13. Does not leave bus with motor running.  Sets brake any time when leaving the bus.
14. Makes sure all emergency equipment, such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, chains, flares, axe, etc. are on bus and in good condition.
15. Completes all required reports on date requested.
16. Follows the Wirt County Discipline Policy.
17. Must be available for emergency school closings.
18. Reports any accident or damage to bus immediately to the transportation director.
19. Reports needed repairs to mechanic.
20. Follows railroad crossing procedures.
21. Maintains positive work habits.
22. Performs duties efficiently and productively.
23. Maintains and/or upgrades skills.
24. Performs other duties assigned by the transportation supervisor or director.
25. Bus will remain parked at assigned location during and after school hours. 
 
Qualifications:
-Must be 21 years of age
-High School Graduate or GED
-Clean Driving Record
-Must be able/willing to obtain CDL License (CDL is not required to apply for this position)
-Must complete unpaid training classes
-Must pass school bus driver physical
·Must pass test with state school bus examiner
·Hold certification as a bus operator as required by WV Transportation Regulations
·Possess the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully carry out responsibilities of the position
 
 
Salary:
Based on Wirt County Salary Scale, job classification and years of service

POSITION:  Special Education Teachers for Home/Hospital Instruction (Homebound), (up to 4 teachers as needed basis depending on student need)
 
CONTRACT: 2024-25 School Year
                       
QUALIFICATIONS: Special Education Certification (Multi-categorical)  
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement IEP goals and objectives for special education students in a Home/Hospital setting
2. Collaborate with participating students’ special education teacher(s) to fully implement IEP
3. Collaborate with participating students’ general education teacher(s) to insure student progress
4. Provide written documentation of student progress
 
SUPERVISOR:   Special Education Director, Respective Principal
 
SALARY:   Commensurate with degree and years’ experience within the following parameters
1. Amount of time as specified in IEP (example/evening per week for 2 hours)

The Wirt County Board of Education announces the following vacancy:


SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS
1. These positions are a day-to-day substitute contract in which the Superintendent and the Wirt County Board of Education cannot guarantee work. The appointment as a substitute teacher carries no assurance that any stipulated number of days of employment shall be provided. The time, place and duration of employment will be stipulated by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. Employment as a substitute teacher must have the recommendation of the Superintendent and approval from the Board of Education.
2. The substitute teacher must hold a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate & meet all employment criteria.
3. The substitute teacher agrees to perform all the duties of said position & employment, & agrees to observe & enforce the rules & regulations lawfully prescribed by school authorities insofar as such rules & regulations may be applicable.
4. The substitute teacher shall supply the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee with a telephone number that the board can call without incurring long distance charges.
5. Successful completion of 133 or more days will be considered as one year teaching experience according to WV State Code 18A-4-7a.
6. Employment of retired teachers holding a valid certificate must be in compliance with WV State Code 18A-2-3.

Notice:  WV Code 18A-4-7a states after the twentieth day prior to the beginning of the instructional term, no person employed & assigned to a professional position may transfer to another professional position in the county unless approved by the Superintendent.
